I am off to thailand on a 2 week holiday at the end of april, my passport was issued 10 years ago back in 2001. This passport expires at the end of july of this year so I cant imagine there would be any problems with me using it for my trip to thailand, its just that its so old now with 10 year photograph has me a little concerned plus I havent used it much.

You may need 6 months on the passport before it becomes invalid to get into Thailand, many countries are like this.

Between now and the end of April you should have enough time to get issues a new passport. I think they can do it on the spot in the Passport Office in Cork.

You will not be allowed travel with this passport.

Travelling to Thailand you're passport must be within it's expiry date for 6 months from when you plan to arrive back home.

Get a new passport as soon as possible because you need it.

Double GG is correct, you need at least 6 months left on your passport for entering Thailand. You need a new one.

    Thanks Folks

Is there anything else I need to do before going to thailand? I havent travelled much you see and I want to make sure I have everything in order

Not much else. Just aslong as all your travel documents are in order you will be fine.

If your travelling to out of the way places up North you should consider getting a few shots. If your only going to Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket I wouldnt bother getting any shots.

I've been all over Asia and Thailand alot so any questions just ask.

You will need vaccinations. Some of them maybe needed some time in advance for them to be effective when you arrrive so get onto it straight away.

After you get them, you should get a little yellow passporty type book off the doctor with all the jabs you've got listed and how long they are valid for. Keep it as safe as your passport.

You should also look into getting travel insurance.
