Maybe it was the smear campaign from the far-left that has led to this. If Left wing loon Boyd-Barrett gets in ahead of her it will be a miscarriage of democracy.

i don't care much for those commies like barrett, but it would be good to see her be humiliated on that stage on saturday

She made a fool of herself on Vincent Browne the other night.
    Deserves everything she gets

I'd heard she was a card carrying member of Opus Dei.
I'm not voting for someone who believes so strongly in imaginary friends.

I don't care a lot for Barrett either, but would be delighted if Hanafin lost her seat. Anyone who saw her squirm and lie her way through the VB show the other night couldn't help but be happy to see the back of her (and that's far from being the only reason).

Oh that Mary Coughlan would lose her seat aswell. Alas she looks a sure bet, shame shame on you Donegal.

As other posters have said, given the way she "appeared" not to understand the concept of guarantees expiring the other night, I'm not surprised.

In fact, if there are more than 5 candidates in her constituency it would appear that very few of her constituents have a TV or the internet, because voting for her after watching that fiasco is a scandal and would indicate a severe lack of brain power.

Strange thing is she was subsequently proven to be correct in the point she made in that interview, have a look at the post here discussing that interview. However, I am not displeased with the prospect of her losing the seat.

    She's the ultimate Gov Yes-(wo)Man.

Always the one to defend everything that was done, always the one happy to be wheeled out to put on a display of support.

She disgusts me and I hope she loses her seat.

Live in the Wicklow constituency, but have to admit I was tickled by the recycled Nice Referendum posters along the N11 at Galloping Green.

"Mary Hanafin asks you to vote yes #1"

Loving that "miscarriage of democracy" remark too... Clearly the people don't know what they want! Maybe if the election doesn't go FF's way, they can just have another one, just like Nice!

Not quite correct, because she did not explain that FF had made a SUBSEQUENT secret deal as part of the IMF bailout and repeatedly attempted to associate the "commitment" with the original over-zealous bank guarantee.

So she was either clueless or deliberately hiding the truth. Both traits of FF that we want rid of.

it would appear to be 4 form these 7, would hanafin losing mean boyde-barrett gets in? i would have thought he would need to be getting labour votes to get in

    Eamon Gilmore (Lab)
    1/100
    Sean Barrett (FG)
    1/100
    Mary Mitchell O'Connor (FG)
    1/3
    Ivana Bacik (Lab)
    4/5
    Mary Hanafin (FF)
    evens
    Richard Boyd-Barrett (PBP)
    7/4
    Barry Andrews (FF)
    8/1

I accept that, she was correct but she did not know why she was correct, she forgot about the subsequent deal.

What a load of absolute and utter twaddle. Do you live in cloud cuckoo land? If Boyd Barret gets in ahead of her it will be because more people voted for and transferred to him than Hanafin. I'm not fan of Boyd Barrett, by any stretch, but that's how democracy works. Unless you'll crying foul if he gets in ahead of her and accuses DLR of voter fraud.

As an aside, if Hanafin doesn't get in, she will most definately by my number one 'Portillo moment' tomorrow night. Please make it so!!

well if you have some good info on him, you can take the 40/1 still going, personally i would want 150/1, but who knows the transfers could be a funny thing
