Don't you just hate it when people have the rule book shoved so far up their arse that they can't see that it's full of ****?

In work, I just asked a guy in India to perform a fairly simple, routine task. He has insisted that I fill out an electronic form with 78 questions, & pay for a 'technical review' out of my departments budget. And he estimates the task will be completed 'within the next 3 weeks'. FFS, the team in Europe did this is 5 mins, with no bull**** forms or review.

    Calm thoughts...deep breaths....don't kill anyone....

Anyone else out there have to put up with complete and utter bull**** processes or rules that defy belief?

We follow orders, or people die. It's that simple. Are we clear?

    Wide Breadths.

    Deep Breaths.

I hope your man doesn't send you a spelling test.

I'm going to guess you work for a large multinational too? This might sound racist but teams in India seem to need structure and a lot of hand holding. You can have the most fool proof processes to follow and they will find a way to get it wrong. Eastern Europe is starting to pose a threat to India at the moment..their knowledge seems to be better and they have more initiative and require less guidance. But sure in 5 years we might be the go to place for off-shoring...if wages keep dropping

Sometimes if I am in the bosses bad books I play by the rules, but most of the time I do my own thing....which sometimes gets me in trouble with the boss! :P

    Oh well....I can't always win!

I'm one of the feckers that makes you follow the rules - if I don't make you go through the process, then my boss will throw a hissyfit at me. Also, I'll totally forget to do what you've asked me to do. Think "Why didn't you log a call for it?! WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"

If you do it the right way, then your request goes into a big long list and I'll get to it when I can. If you're not a c*nt then I'll get to it as soon as I can :D

I remember in RTÉ in the 70s, not sure if it's still the same. And this is even before Gaffers.

If you wanted to move a simple light stand from one side of the studio to the other, you needed an electriction to pull out the plug and and two 'trained' people to move the stand. Then the electriction would plug it back in again. That was the requirement. These gobsh!tes would be standing around all day getting paid to do feck all.

Are you one of those people that enforces rules even though you know they are crap rules, but can't be bothered to go to your boss and convince them that the rules need to be changed?

    :p
