For the likes of that yoke that seems cheap enough.

What goes wrong with those 814s, brakes can be hit and miss, they will either send you through the cab window or be shyte! Exhausts are prone to rotting on them and king pins can be a pain in the arse to do on them.

On the tilt and slide check all rams for leaks or bad scores on the cylinders. Check the the t'n's for cracks, when they are not raised and lowered right it can be very severe on the body. Basically they should be pushed back about half way before being tilted and the brought forward to the same point when being lowered.

Exactly as slidey says, ive seen a few with cracks in the body from been abused, keep them greased and operate as slidey says puts less pressure on the hole body, check the hydraulic pump is workin ok, as they can be expensive to repair or even replace.

ok was told seal gone in one of the rams that lifts up the bed as there is a slight leak but ok as long as you keep oil topped up... needs a drivers side step as this one has rotted away from cab... if kingpins needed doing would this be pricey???

If i had a truck that needed only a little work to pass the test id do the work get it tested and stick 1.5 or 2 g onto the asking price remember doe's on recovery trucks are only a relatively new thing and so a lot of older trucks were maybe not as well looked after as ordinary lorries. think about price of test and tacho calibration your heading for 3 grand before you lift a spanner throw in a tyre or two and a few more bits and pieces and you have price of tested truck.

having said all that the 814 is pretty much bombproof and if the body is in good nick its probably worth half the asking price by itself

I know you said you wanted a tilt and slide but thats some lump of truck for the money the crane alone must worth 3k doesnt say anything about test and she looks to yeller plates on her but the body looks too good to have been put on a ball of excrement

Thanks for that...yes 814 needs step as rotted away so doesn't sound good for the rest of cab.. also needs seal etc and doesn't sound dear at the price but could cost a bit to put it thru the test..
may just pass on this one...

that iveco looked very well but not tilt and slide but its in limerick too but if it had been closer id surely take a look...

that iveco has been removed from donedeal as seems to be a scam-was too cheap...

too good to be true alas if it looks like a duck walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it rarely turns out to be a mars bar. imagine people being dishonest on the interweb:rolleyes:
