Dixie Carter opens the show but is interrupted by Immortal. Eric Bischoff ran her down and then handed the mic to Ric Flair. Flair brings out the returning Hulk Hogan, who says he won a court case and now has 100% full control of TNA Wrestling. Dixie loses it.

Beer Money vs. Gunner and Murphy - TNA Tag-Team titles. Beer Money Inc. won the match cleanly. Ink Inc. came out following the match and challenged them to a match at the TNA Victory Road pay-per-view. They accept.

Velvet Sky vs. Sarita. Velvet Sky won clean with a DDT for the finish. Robbie E. came out during this match and fell unintentionally while coming to the ring. It was said to have been hilarious. They'll likely need to edit that out or make a joke about it. Angelina Love was also out and claimed she wanted some of J-WoWW from the Jersey Shore. She also took a shot at Velvet Sky during this. It looks like they are going with a Beautiful People and Winter vs. Sarita, Angelina, and Cookie match. This is likely for the second taping later tonight.

The Jarrett wedding ceremony was next. Eric Young and Orlando Jordan were both part of the wedding. Young was the ring bearer and wore a tuxedo t-shirt, and Orlando Jordan was the flower girl. Kurt Angle came out and attacked Jeff Jarrett immediately. As this was happening, Karen Angle was supposed to smash into the cake, but it looked like she missed her spot. This was actually kept very short. Apparently they are teasing that the Jarrett's will still renew their vows later tonight.

Scott Steiner defeated Rob Terry with the "Steiner Recliner".

Matt Morgan defeated Hernandez by DQ.

Jeff Hardy vs. a mystery opponent for the TNA World Title will be the main event of the 3/3 edition of iMPACT! (first taping). No word yet on the main event of the second taping.

They aired a 3-3-11 hype video. Yup.

Jeff Hardy vs. Sting for the TNA Title is up next. They are doing this TONIGHT for the big show. Sting has a new outfit with red sequins and has an old school look. The retro Stinger is back! Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop and scored the clean pin. NEW TNA WORLD CHAMPION - STING! Sting got a huge pop when he returned. The first time Sting went for the Scorpion Death Drop, Hardy got to the ropes. Hardy was in control until Sting hit three Scorpion Death Drops in a row, including one from the top rope for the win.

physique wise he's been sloppy for a while now - i know he has shoulder issues but like man he doesn't exactly look like a champion does he?

i mean like umaga, rikishi , yoko, vader etc...

they were like BIG men he just looks like out of shape guy.

i'm not trying to be harsh on him cause i like sting and he farts out more charisma and ring prescence than 90% of othere wrestler you'd ever see i just think he could tone up a bit just for the one last run like also that singlet thing he wears looks ridiculous i know its to hide the gut but still man, i suppose it beats the t-shirt

I don't know Stings age but in Hbk's book when he started off Sting was one of the main guys then that puts into pesrspective how old he is.Taker looks like a Old Prune at the moment so you can hardly say he's in "WRESTLEMANIA SHAPE". I was watching Mania X/XI recently & a lot on those cards were a embarrasment. Particularly Gassed up NFL Player L.T.

    He was born in 1959.

If he joined WWE 15 years ago I would have got excited.

And I'm sure those 200 people will be tuning in to see what happens next week. Bravo TNA, fantastic promoting.

God you'd be annoyed sometimes. Sting, in theory, could be going into the HOF, getting a 3 disc DVD and Main Eventing Wrestlemania with The Undertaker. Whats he doing instead, teaming with his belly in a 2 on 1 handicap match against a man who will be going to jail? Jesus like would you be well. And the fact that TNA treat his return as a joke. They're some shower of fools. They really dont mind screaming Second Best at the top of their voices sometimes.

That video was awful. Just screams 'we are second best and do not take this company seriously'.

To me, the quoted text just came across as "why doesn't Sting come to WWE, I want to see him at Wrestlemania. Why doesn't Sting want a DVD? F*** Sting! Screw TNA! TNA sucks!"

Sting said years ago that he would never go to WWE and I respect him for it. I don't think TNA are treating his return as a joke. Maybe they were poking fun at the Undertaker promo a bit but what harm. The Undertaker promo was very well done but even by the Jonny Cash lyrics alone you knew it was The Undertaker straight away.

One thing that annoys me is the frequent title changes in TNA. AJ, Hardy, Anderson and RVD are all worthy champions but if they can't even defend the belt once without losing it devalues the belt and the wrestler IMO.

Lots of people said they'd never go to WWE. In fairness, in this day and age its where one cements their legacy. It is the grandest stage of them all, after all. And what harm in wanting to see Sting in their with stars on huge scales? Instead of that rinky dink crowd hes with who, in all fairness, dont have much of a clue. It might motivate Sting if he went to WWE, too. The last thing I saw him doing was a match with RVD last year, Sting in the t shirt, and it was pathetic. A shambles, Bill, if you may.

Why poke fun at another competition in the building of a return of a supposed icon? Thats what WCW did, and look where caring too much about the "enemy" got them. A nice shiney spot on Vinces shelf.

FFS surely Anderson, Styles, RVD or even Morgan would be better as champ - giving him the title now it just to show WWE he is TNA all the way

That's one of the things that annoys me. Did Hardy or Anderson even defend their belt once before dropping it? 3 title changes in 2 months- 2 on fooking Impact I believe. Would like to see Anderson get a run with the belt. I'm not against Sting getting the belt but first week back come on.

This was actually a pretty decent show, and the crowd were $hit hot for this all night.

TNA probably already knew Sting was coming back when Jeff Hardy won the title from Anderson, because obviously it would make more sense for Sting to win the title from (and start a feud with) a heel. Putting the Championship on Sting is fairly sensible booking considering he was a major hot topic for the IWC the last few weeks.

if all it takes to become a world champion and your main event player is to be a hot topic on the iwc, then tna would have a very difficult time having any champion have a meaningful title reign.

tna could put on a technically good impact, but theyd still have something on that show which would annoy me to tears. be it the wrong guy winning, a guy who has no business being in the ring anymore, let alone the main event, let alone winning in the main event, or watching properly talented guys who may not exactly be properly young anymore have their careers killed, because some arse hole doesnt think theyre over enough, or doesnt like their look, or whatever. tna doesnt like taking chances and doesnt want to either.

and it sickens me to no end that this was a company i loved and thought could compete with wwe one day.

snowballs chance in hell of that ever happening based upon the trainwreck that tna throws out every week

I thought the show was decent, but only because they moved out of that tiny arena and got into a real arena with a real crowd. It had a WCW-feeling to it. Regarding Sting - The guy is 52 this month, what sort of shape are people expecting him to be in?

TNA need to stay in big arenas with big crowds and it will get a bit more respect. They need to change that title belt too, it looks awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,082 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

Well the belt was a storyline belt made just for Hardy, so hopefully they'll go back to a proper title belt.

I don't think TNA will ever compete with WWE under the current ownership/management team.

They just shoot themselves in the foot every few weeks and never build any solid momentum.

Also they're in a catch 22 situation with regards to Impact. Impact Zone is a guaranteed crowd for a set and budgeted for expense. Impact on the road, has the potential to make them more money, but also has equal potential to bomb and lose them an awful lot of money.

Really enjoyed the Impact especially with the live crowd especially , as someone said they need to do Impact on the road. Even if they find smaller venues and try grow from there

Pity Sting got the belt , apart from that good show

I got to watch this show last night and i have to say i really liked it more so than the usual Impact.

I enjoyed not having to see people make their entrance and the camera do that really odd 45degree angle thing from the rafters. I never realised how much that pissed me off until last night.

The Karen/jarett angle was a bit of fun. Kurts face was hilarious.
He looked like he was actually about to snap.
One thing i didnt understand is why Karen and Jeff went running scared only to have some nfl quarterback man up to kurt.
Like what did he care? Why did jeff roll out of the ring and go running off like a pussy when he could have just ran half way up the ramp and then look back at angle destroying the wedding set and get pissed off with karen trying to get him away?

Jarrett was hiding behind Bart Scott because he's the cowardly heel doing anything to avoid facing Angle, plus Angle taking down Scott got TNA exactly what they were looking for. It was all over ESPN on Friday.

Oh he is a big deal?
I get that Jeff is supposed to be the cowardly heel but Karen should have been freaking out and jeff should have been pulling her back or something. I thought it was the only real downside to the segment.
