Reality TV, at the end of the day.
I watch it if it happens to be on. Dont think you'd learn much as a farmer though watching it.
From hanging gates to landling livestock - does prooves the pt that farmers have to be able to multi-task.

I seen bits and pieces. The comments of the judges drive me mental. They just seem to nit pick on the most retarded of things. One night they criticised a lad for jumping over a gate instead of opening it. And that was in the "Guess the weight" task. What the hell has the gate got to do with it?

The judges also put me off. I watched the first season, then didn't bother after that.

it's a nice concept but the tasks are often fairly ridiculous...like cooking a meal and stuff....fair enough it's a useful skill to have but to kick off a competent farmer for not being able to cook is absolute crap...

the gaelgóir judge from muscraí wrecks my head...the most critical git i ever saw...he must be the perfect farmer the way he goes on..also wouldn't alan dukes be better off spending a bit more time sorting out Anglo Irish than messing aroung on a reality tv show?!!

Does nobody else think that its cheap edited tv? There's nothing real in any of it - everything in it is set up. I'm sure that if you are a fan of reality tv, you might find it entertaining. I'm just sick of the stuff. The tv is taken over 6 nights a week with similar edited stuff that's just entertainment for kids.

Lambing live is still receiving raving reviews in the uk - over 1 week since it finished. It really educated the british public about the realities of farming and had huge ratings.

Feirm factor is more about entertaining the nation with reality tv than entertaining and educating people about farming - sorry but its the truth.

Watched it the first year it was on and thought it was decent. Not my favourite program by any means but nice to see some farming stuff on telly. Two things annoyed me about it, and thats why i gave up watching it. First the majority of tasks were stupid, and not representative of actual farming at all. And then even worse was the judges. Jesus they'd do your head in. Super-critical, and often for no good reason. I just happened to see one of this years episodes and they had to count something like 150 sheep in a paddock. Only one group got it right but they got criticised because their method wasn't 'correct' in the judges opinion, while a group that got it wrong got praised for being very methodical! Daft

I like Feirmeoiri too. Its interesting to see the day to day lives of these ordinary people. There's nothing fake about it or nothing set up. They just film it as it happens. Sadly I think the series has ended.
