    Hi guys, quick query....

If i want to take part in some races this year as an A4 or A3, what kind of a licence do I need with Cycling Ireland? Just curious as money is tight and I only want to spend what I have to!

    Thanks in advance!

You could take a club competition & then pay for a one day licence when signing on for the race you're doing.

You need a full competition licence if you plan on registering as an A3 or A4.

If you're only planning on doing a couple of open races, then buy a club competition licence and take out a day licence for each race. AFAIK, that's €10 a pop.

You need a full competition licence if you want to compete in open races. €120 if you are in a club, €150 if not. Obviously clubs have their own membership fees.

If you are happy to compete only in club races, a club competition licence is €55 but you will need to join a club too.

I thought the 1 Day licence was €10 if you were had a Cycling Ireland membership, and €20 if you weren't a member.

I'm not sure if it's the same for road races but in mtb races it was changed last year to be €20 no matter what even if you already had a CI licensce.

I am not aware of that tbh. I thought it was just 20 no matter what as the other poster said.

Wow, licenses are expensive here :( In the UK it's £35ish for British Cycling Silver membership (includes liability insurance and legal aid) and £30ish for the license itself. £65ish total -- lots less than €120!

yeah I suppose but you can get an introductory membeshipfor €10 which will give you insurance for quite a lot.

how much is it to enter a race there?

It varies. Evening crits, £10. Regional league races, £20 odd. Stage races perhaps £60 for 3 days.

If i'm not a member of a club can i just show up at an open race and pay for a one day license and the race fee and race?
