Rush hour spins 2011

    Finally got out for the first rush hour spin of the year yesterday.

    Baldoyle - Swords - Blakes Cross - Ballyboughal - Oldtown - St Margarets - Glasnevin.

    Deliberately went for a few climbs rather than taking the flatter routes this time, (gotta keep the climbing skills up). Nice mild morning, Road works between Ballyboughal and Oldtown have the road more like a cross track. Bike (and legs) covered in mud by the time I got to Oldtown. Hope they're going to re-surface the road after.

    Faced into a brisk southeasterly on the way to St Margarets but was hitting 41kph on the flat by the Airport. All in all a nice start to the extended commute season.

    49km, Avg 24.7kph, Max 47kph...

    Is the road between Oldtown and Ballyboughal open? The signs at the Oldtown end say its closed for 7 weeks.

    I met a digger being fuelled by a tanker which was filling the road. Walked by in the ditch. No problem getting through on the bike but it's awfully grubby.

    Lovely evening spin. Glasnevin -> St Margarets -> Oldtown -> Blakes Cross -> Malahide -> Baldoyle.
    Legs definately out of commission...
    48.5k, avg 25.1kph, max 46.9kph
