if you have already ordered it could be a bit annoying if it was a lemon :P

but fortunately the a&k svd ( just rebranded as asg ) is a great model, it has a solid construction which is compatible with aeg springs buckings and barrels, the sear is strong enough for up to 500fps springs if you travel abroad and easy change the spring if needed compared to a vsr or other models.

Has a couple of downsides, it is very long and if you are traveling with a heavy spring it can become difficult to operate as you have to manipulate the bolt with only a couple of finger when you pull back the bolt

Used the a&k svd exclusively on my last two trips to the UK with great results.

Thanks puding, was wondering if it was a rebrand of the A&K and glad to know it's compatible with AEG springs, buckings etc
If I was to buy a wood kit for it, is it easy to install or difficult ?
    Thanks

I've a few pics of the wood kit on it here:

Not a perfect fit and the colouring is a little orange but much better than the black plastic that comes with it.

why would you waste your money on a gun like that Damo_2k9. You should have bought a different sniper for in or around the same price. if you ask me the Dragunov is ****. (excuse my french)

And would you care to share why it is so bad? Personal I see it as one of the best budget spring powered rifles at the moment with the bar 10

Don't put me off it have been selling and saving my ass off to get one, surely the fact that you can drop in aeg springs and use a 200 round mag for the day are big plus points over similar priced options, chuck on the PSO scope wood kit and you have one of the best looking springers out there!
    Damn I need one soon!!!!!!

Never shot one, what's range and accuracy like, what are good starting upgrades?

There's a video on YouTube that shows you how to eliminate it, some English lad shows you but I don't have the link!

One tip, When cocking it eventually it will send a pain through the arm, so careful with the speed youre gonna be firing at.

Another quick one, out of the box is there anything that needs doing?
Like does it use standard AEG rubber and barrels?
Have you upgraded anything on it apart from the stunning wood stock!

The only upgrade worth doing is the wood effect grip and stock, get a better spring for aroad trips and such. Learn how to install thogh, never open a gun withou knowing what you're doing/did

Got the SVD yesterday!!!! Love it, needed small adjustment as it was miss feeding and not firing, heaven knows how they were able to give me a chrono cert with it?!

No thank god, but it took some fettling to get it to shoot properly but there are vids on YouTube showing you quite simply how to sort it

Found a site called airsoftpro.cz that seems to have a nice selection of upgrades for the SVD including a steel cnc'd trigger sear a piston that has a steel sear collar that they say is made in house, both of these are €19.50 each
Also found a Co2 conversion kit from ehobby.
Anybody have any tips on the hop up? It's quite inconsistent, although I have put less than 60 rounds through it, it might just be a case of letting it bed in, but any info would be helpful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

have both the sear and the co2 kit

sear - well made, never needed to install it as i've had no need so far, the stock version is very strong and can easy handle up to 500fps + without any damage, held up without issue on my last few trips to the uk

co2 kit - brought it and found it to be inconsistent and inflexible with a tenancy to double fire, tbh waste of money for what it is

i've found the svd to be accurate although you do need to make shore the bucking is in good condition and to not let the bold slam forward as it can damage the bb and cause inaccuracy, instead just slide the bolt home each time

One idea is the scope thats avaliable on MIA, its definatley worth getting along with the wood effect kit. You will look very taliban.

for the price of the clone you might as well pick up the real steel posp scope from inside europe, the optics and construction is far superior far in above the extra you will pay

i am very undecided about the wood kit though! i wanted one, but i do like the all black look :)
