    Toyota offer these deals: http://www.toyota.ie/about/promotions/scrappage-deal/

An Aygo for just under €8000, and the Yaris (I guess would be a direct replacement for the Starlet) for €10800. The Aygo is a poverty spec one, just barely enough metal and plastic to form a car for under 8k.

Seat offer a basic Ibiza for around the same money as the Yaris:

The VW polo comes in around 13K so that's out.
Kia Picanto is the same money as the Aygo, but I think it's fugly.
The Nissan Micra comes in at 14K but has a 3K scrappage rebate / discount.

There's quite a range out there, leaving out the French cars.

New Yaris is to be launched her later this year, conveniently after the scrappage scheme ends.

Hyundai i20 might be worth looking at. 5 year warranty afaik.
