Rattle from windows

How do. I am hoping this is a pretty handy one to fix up. But for the last while the windows in my car have been making a rattling noise when they are closed.
It only happens when I go over bumps. Its kind of like a cross between a rattle and a rubbing off rubber noise.

Anybody any ideas/clues as to how I get rid of this, its doing my nut in at this stage.

    Car? Year?

    Are windows electric?
    Is it more than one?
Are you sure it's fully up?
Does it happen if they're halfway up?

I guess it could be the seals getting old and stiff. Or something in the door connected to the window.
Try shaking the window when car is off (fully closed and halfway open), where does noise come from? The upper or lower part?

You could try reviving the "bounce" in the seals/trim with silicone oil spray, mind this will make them greasy until you've wiped the excess off.

Tried lubing them up already with lube from motor factors, but it is still rubbing/rattling. But then again, i'm not sure if i did it right. I'd do it again if i knew what to do

Does it go away when you crack the windows down a touch?

If so, you'll need some new seals but you'll need a dealership or specialist to confirm exactly which ones. (can't remember exactly right now) There is a special lubricant that the dealership will apply to the rubbers but this rarely works for any considerable length of time.

i had an 02 318 bmw there was an annoying squeak between door rubber seal and seal around the opening it was around ear height and very annoying also impossible to fix ,tried cleaning both surfaces lubeing both with silicone spray, petoleum gel but any fix would only last a few days so maybe thats what you are hearing

Yeah, it does go when I open the windows a bit. I'll drop it up to Chris in Sandyford tomorrow, get him to take a look at it.
