Signing on problem

I was supposed to sign on yesterday. I had an interview in a different county and could not make it. I went in today to sign on and the supervisor was in a bad mood and refused to let me sign on until i proved to him i had an interview and in his words, then we will see about letting you sign on. I will bring in an email printout in the morning but im sure this man is going to try to get me to either miss a payment which will mean no food next week or knocked off altogether. He was shouting at me so he is a nasty little man.

my history over last 12 months.

once i had food poisoning and had to sign on 2 days late. No problem, had no medical note.

3 other times i signed on in the evening instead of the morning, once because my father was in hospidal and twice because the queue was very long and i didnt see a problem with signing in the evening instead.

what do i do if this man decides to cut me off?
can i make a complaint to the social ministers department? Where are the offices?
    what is the appeal procedure?
what decision making power does the office supervisor hold?

    any advice woule be appreciated.

    thanks.

Wait for his decision,if it not to your liking you can appeal it,if you are cut off go to your local CWO and apply for hardship payment while awaiting your appeal.IMO you must stay calm at all times.

can he knock me off and force me to reapply because with the above history?

    what is the appeal procedure?

what is the penalty for grevious bodily harm?

OP, you have a history of missing your signing times, and have missed it numerous times in fact. If you are leaving the area you live and sign, you are supposed to inform your office of this - you didn't. Threatening GBH is not going to help your case, and shouldn't even be suggested on this forum.
    Provide the proof as requested.

just trying to lighten the mood in a stressful situation. Relax.

where are the offices of the social department. Is it possible to walk in to discuss this with one of ocuivs secretaries?

Threatening GBH against a member of the Department is more than lightening the mood of a situation - please refrain from doing so in future.

If you want information on location of offices of the Department have a look at www.welfare.ie which lists them all.

quiz banned from forum for one week for threatening violence against members of Department.
Please read forum charter - this is not a forum for criticising government bodies or its staff - threats of violence against same are not taken lightheartedly.

    Hardly threats of violence.

i think he can make you sign on weekly if he takes a dislike to you.

no messing with the mods in this forum.

Op i was browsing through the forum and it seems as if there is a standard time later in each week when you can sign on if you miss your designated day. Dont take my word for it though. Good luck.

actually if you develop a pattern of being late to sign on or "forgetting' to sign on they can insist that you sign every day.

He did not actually threaten anybody, and in fact stated he would never assault anyone from the department.

I think it is quite clear he was making a joke when asking what the GBH penalty was, albeit it in bad taste.

    Do you sign on monthly?

5 missed/late sign-ons in a 12 month period is a joke. If you were working and behaved like that you'd be given your P45.

Alright, first two times I can understand. But you get told to sign on at a certain time and you decided to come back later. Those two times were you saying to the SW "sod off, I'll do it when I want to". Yes, the queues can be long and annoying but you're told to sign on so you should.
