Would you fight back?

Inspired by the thread in Cool Vids regarding the bouncer that beat up/robbed one of the club patrons, I was wondering how most people would respond in such a situation.

I seem to be one of the few who would fight back, and that worries me as it means such bullies can be pretty sure that they will get what they want. I'd probably get beaten to a pulp, but it wouldn't stop me from fighting back, because it's the right thing to do.

So, what would you do? Cower like the guy in the above clip (and probably the smartest option), go all out attacking the bouncer (like me, and probably the dumbest option). Or perhaps some other choice?

I'd set fire to myself in front of him. Show him who is boss.

I'm pretty sure I'd be at least as scared if not more so as the poor guy in the video. That bouncer was huge, although seemed to hit like a pussy with the size of him but the bouncer had him backed into a corner and had backup too, instinct would more than likely have most people rolling over on their belly submitting.

I haven't seen the video, but my logic on it is this: if you're gonna get the crap kicked out of you (assuming that the bouncer is huge) then you have nothing to lose by fighting back. If you get a hammering, you may as well try to hurt him!

I would fight back,well he wouldn't of got a dig on me in the first place, because the minute he started going through my phone he would of been flat on his arse with the slap id give him.Now thats not to say the camerman wouldnt beat the shit out of me,but fuck it i wouldn't ever leave anyone threat me like that.

Pointless trying to tackle somebody that size, never mind two of them.

Not that I've even agreed to go to the room with them in the first place, but, if I had found myself there, I would calmly and confidently explained that if he was going to lay a finger on me then he'd better kill me, because if he didn't, I'd be waiting for him some night when his shift finished, and would do to him what he should have done to me.

Doesn't have to be true, but I just have to deliver the line in such a way as to create a doubt in his mind.

If he was punching me like that, i would just cower or say i have epilepsy and i will have a fit if i get hit in the head. If he started really beating on me then i would do my best to take it to the ground and then get him in an arm bar or some sort of choke manoever :cool:

tbh if there were two of them then I'd promptly assume the foetal position and hope for the best. If there was only one, I'd take my chances and fight back

I havent been in a fight in years, part of me wonders would I be able to handle myself or would I have the sense to walk away. guess once punches are flying and the adrenaline is going its hard to make sense of it. I'd have to give him a smack back. Only thing that would stop me is the fact that the guy with the camera is obviously going to stick the boot in when he got the chance. Thats 2 against one which is only ever going to end one way.

That bouncer isn't huge by the way, he's targeted a fairly small guy to take money off. An easy target. Some day the prick will do this to the wrong guy & end up mincemeat.

He'll pick on someone who...

- competes in MMA
- is connected with some sort of gang.
- is just an insane cnut & goes nuts
- has a gun

This guy probably made the right decision. Lose some money and take a few punches, if he fought back they would have an excuse to kick him half to death because "they were attacked".

If they were trying to kill the guy, it's a different story.

I think I'd just try and block as many of the punches that I could, the black guy was just looking for an excuse to get angry. I'd get out of there as soon as I could and report him to the cops. If the cops were unwilling or couldn't do anything I'd make alternative arrangements and get it sorted, an eye for an eye plus interest.

In these kinds of situations it's virtually impossible to predict your reaction until it actually happens to you.

There are so many factors involved. Foremost are how much drink you have taken and the number and size of opponents you face.

You can only advise how you think you will react or how you'd like to react, but your actual reaction is unpredictable.

didn't see the video, but if any guy tried to beat me up no matter how strong he was I'd fight back to get away from them.

I'm a pretty fast runner so a couple of slaps to stun him and then run!

I opted for the "something else" and it's this.

This actually happened a few years ago with my mate in lanzarote.
In a club called caesers my mate got a few slaps off this overweight skinhead english bouncer for nothin really just dropped a drink and bumped of a dancer because he was pissed. The burley bouncer chap thought he was Bruce Lee while he was backed up by the other bouncers and threw in a few Irish insults for good measure. Now my mate is no shrinking violet so after he sobered up a bit he returned to the club (bout 6 in the morning) and waited. When the bouncer left the club and was a good enough distance up the road my mate pounced on him with a horrific flurry of hooks, haymakers you name it, he landed them. The bouncer cowering on the ground, crying and bleeding while his dopey friend shouted "leave it out, he's half Irish" "he's half Irish". Not so tough really are they?:D
