Strange eBay transaction

I bought a Acer Aspire Revo R3600 on eBay over the weekend. I just got a strange message from the seller. He said he posted out the machine yesterday but did not include the power supply!! He said he'll have a look around home and see if he can find it and post it straight out to me!!

I'm very worried now! I can't understand selling something and not being totally sure you have what you're selling.

Can someone advise me what to do in this situation? I mean if he can't find the power supply it's useless to me! €200 wasted. If the machine arrives and I get no power supply PayPal will make me send it back to him at my expense. HELP!!

If you don't receive the power supply raise a dispute with Paypal citing that the product wasn't delivered as advertised. They'll either force a partial refund or will ask you to send the laptop back for a full refund.

Either way you win. Universal power supplies are quite cheap these days anyway.

Yes but you have to send it back at your own cost, which ain't cheap for a laptop. Buy the power supply yourself or ask the seller to send you one.

Dont worry too much at this stage. It was probably a honest mistake and he will post the charger on.

If not you can ask him to send you money via paypal so you can buy one on ebay yourself.

If that does not work open a dispute and get a refund and give him negative feedback.

Paypal do not force partial refunds.

If the seller does not offer you a partial refund of his own accord, you will most likely have to send the item back for a full refund. I would reccomend that you work it out with teh seller directly in this situation rather than involve paypal tbh

Refuse the item and then ask paypal for a refund

If the seller doesn't confirm that he's sent on the power supply by the end of the day, then there's something wrong. If he doesn't confirm, then you should refuse the delivery, and it'll be sent back to him (without costing you anything), then just go for your refund.

Wait, if you are talking about the delivery of the power cord, then that will not have any bearing on the prospective case.. the main item is the laptop.. if they were sent seperately he would need to refuse both deliveries and wait until the online tracking updates to show "return to sender" before claiming

The laptop is coming first, so if the seller doesn't confirm that the power supply has been posted before the laptop arrives, then he should refuse the laptop on delivery. Otherwise, he'll have to pay to have it returned should the power supply not be sent out. If it takes the seller more than 1 day to find the power supply, then something is wrong, and refusing the delivery is the only way out without having to pay.

If he does refuse it, he should tell the seller immediately that it has been refused, and that he wants a refund.

Check the listing, if the power supply was listed then the seller is at fault for not sending it. If the power supply was not listed as part of the listing then it's not included as such and it's going to boil down to whether or not the seller made a mistake in the listing and is willing to rectify.

If he listed the power supply you've two choices at this point: trust the seller and wait a few days for him to send on the power supply and stay in regular contact or open a SNAD case in the resolution centre. I'd personally wait a few days.. you have 45 days to open the case. If you do open the case do it in the eBay resolution centre if the buyer is UK based, the resolutions program there is pretty advanced and if the seller is at fault you'll get a full refund.

If he didn't list the power supply: contact him again and see if you can work it out mutually or look to cancel the transaction if you feel that strongly about it. You cannot open a case for SNAD if the PS was part of the listing.

    Cheers
    Jay
