I had a look when I happened to be in Arnotts recently and the cheapest was €15 or so.

In Argos they have Value Range 5 Piece Knife Set with Wooden Knife Block @ €4.99 which I don't mind paying but they have some bad reviews and I really just need one general purpose/vegetable and meat chopping knife (I was it before going from meat to vegetable, or just dice meat after veg).

Where can I get a single good knife for €5 in Dublin City Centre, or should I just go with the Argos one?

I bought good knives in TKMAXX but make sure you buy a shaping stone too.
Ask no matter how good a knife is it will go dull.

To be honest - a knife that you buy for a fiver will be ok. But it will not be good. You'll get what you pay for.

Advice on buying knives is available in this thread.
