I am a bloke and just got engaged Monday week ago.
Was looking at the engagement ring today and noticed its chipped:eek:

Its a half carat round cut solitare vvs1.
Is this a regular event? what should I do? Shes not a mechanic or manual worker so I don't know what happened within the week, or maybe it was always there as I only really looked closely at it today......

Oh God I don't know what to advise you.

Diamond is one of the hardest surfaces on earth and it's pretty hard to chip it. Generally only another diamond would damage a diamond. I'm open to correction on that though.

Maybe bring it back to the shop? Tell them you've only had it a week and it's damaged and you're very concerned. They might be able to help you?

afaik it would only chip if there was a flaw already present, your diamond should not chip, bring it back to the jeweller asap.
