Thinking of a bit of a spin around Wales during June for a few days...

Any advise on where to visit?

We'll land in Liverpool and leave from Bristol, and will have a rental car for the few days.

Not after wild nights out, just a few things to see, some good grub, maybe a pint in the evening!

Make a stop off in Cardiff for a day or before going to explore the countryside. It's quiet a compact city so it dosnt take lon to see. Highlights would be Cardiff Castle and the grounds, the Cardiff indoor market and the Bay area has got lots of restraunts and bars and a few sights to see.

Would recommend heading West when you get to Liverpool and head for North Wales and specifically any of the towns or villages close to Snowdonia NP. June I would imagine would be quiet busy and more the reason to go here.

Beautiful towns around here and tourist facilities are great, not sure what your looking for but you can climb Snowdonia (Wales highest point) itself or if you wish you can get the train to top. The place is rich wth History with Roman forts and if interested in recent Irish it might be worth checking out Frangoch, interment camp or concentration camp used by the British after the rising but now just marked with a plaque... forgotten by most!

    Thanks! Great advise.

Where would be good to stay to break up the trip between North and South Wales?

Stayed in Llanberis myself but having pre-booked here I would consider any on the neighbouring towns and villages as well. Llanberis is a good base for hill walking and rock climbing however the nightlife wouldn't be orientated towards tourists as much as some of the neighbouring villages. Best y Coed even though small was one of those places that did stand out but they were numerous others as well. I would recommend staying in a B&B or small hotel to experience great welsh hospitality.

Also impressed with the tourism infrastructure there and the appreciation for the surrounding environment.

South Wales wouldn't merit the same attention as the North. The Breacon Beacons are nice but void of any character. Further South again your into Valley country but probably only worth driving through here as towns still havent recovered since the industry collapse of coal mining. Very much a neglected part of the country where I think you've got the highest unemployment rates however the people are still welcoming of the odd stranger. Never too far from the Coltwolds so should consider crossing the border if you had a lot of time in your hands.

    Enjoy
