Umesh Rana for F8 and Reidin for P3 both in Griffith College

it's all about exam technique - especially F8

Considering BPP for F8 and P1... Has anyone had Leo Norris as a lecturer?

Dave O'Donoghue for F8 and Shane O'Grady for P3 both at Independent Colleges would be my advice
That combination of subjects will bore you to death for the one sitting could you mix them up a bit and do F8 and P2?

Who would you recommend for P2?

I'm re-sitting F8 and P1...I had Shaun Browne for F8 but I thought he didn't cover enough questions/exam technique in his classes and from the looks of it he isn't teaching F8 anymore

I had Shane O'Grady for P1, I reckon i failed it because of my time management...I could have done with another 3 hours!

So i'm thinkin re-sitting the both of these aswell as taking P3...

    Hi all

I also went to Griffith College. I done F8 a few sittings ago with Umesh. He made it v interesting with real life examples, not just auditing theory.

I have also just passed P3 (yesterday) and done quiet well.

I find the recorded classes online useful if I miss a class.

    Hi Juan
I think doing F8, P1, and P3 together would be too much theory - I would much rather a balance of both theory and calcs - say maybe F8, P3 and, P2 if you still have it to do.

Is P2 not ment to be one of the hardest exams you'll do?

I got exempt from F7 so i was thinkin of doin P2 on it's own or with one of the options if all goes to plan in June...

I can see where you're comin from though with all the theory...

I'm doin F8, P1 and either P3 or P2...undecided which one to go for yet!

I guess P2 is hard - but it depends on the person. I cannot check the latest pass rates of the exams as the ACCA site appears to still me down.

If you work hard and go to a good college it would be fine.

I think for some students they must complete ALL the F papers before going onto the options (P4 - P7) but you should check this with ACCA

I have just done P2 and P3 and found it fine - results were in the 60's

Going against my previous post - I personally like to mix theory and calcs, but doing P1 and P3 at the same time would not be such a bad decision as there is a considerable overlap between them - I just could not stick all the theory! But once again, it depends on the college you go to- The last thing you want is for some lecture to make the theory even more painful than it already is!

    I am doing P1, P6 and (P5 / P7) I cant decide which!

Thanks Aidan! where did you do P2?

I defo prefer the idea of doin a calculations paper than all theory...it's a shame the ACCA site is down i'd love to view afew of the past papers and sample answers for P2 to see wat all the fuss is about

    Hi Juan

I done all my exams in Griffith College - I done some in their main campus in Dublin and also their place in the city center.

I was thinking you might find P2 hard as you were exempt from F7. But all the classes are recorded online for both P2 and F7 - You can watch as your classes as many times as you like.

I dont know if it is the norm, but as a P2 student I could also watch the F7 videos - I actually didn't bother but it may be useful if you have never done it. However, this may have been a mistake - I really don't know.

If you would like to send me a private message, I could send you info and some questions from P2.

I also think you can view sample video lectures of the classes on their site - But you would need to check this!

Aidan whats ur man like in Griffith for F8?what are his classes like?

Anyone else have other opinions for F8?Dave O'Donoghue?is he any good?what are his classes like?

Thinking of goin to Independent for P2...looks like Liam Doran is the best lecturer for it!

I've decided to leave P3 til December

    Hi there

The F8 guy is v good.

My reason is because he has v good international experience with some of the top firms - He links real life into the theory - which helped me understand it much better.

I approached him regarding getting a set of notes for my iphone and he was extremely helpful. He even called me outside class time to ensure I was able to open them.

I cant really comment on any other colleges as I have only been to one.

I did P2 in Dec and in my opinion it's difficult enough to do it on it's own

my advice would be to do F9 and P1 which isn't too bad

    cheers
