that there is going to be a big Retail push by a couple of the "Big Boys".
Boyles have lost a lot of ground to Paddy Power and are going to have a big push in the shops to get the punters back to them.
They have recruited 3 new guys, head of risk, head of trading and head of another department that I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.
Quote from my source, they have got 3 "big hitters" 1 from Powers, 1 from Ladbrokes & 1 from the Financial Markets.
Powers won't stay quiet if Boyles start a war and Ladbrokes will follow them,
if they need to stay on a level playing field.
Ladbrokes have improved a bit in the last few weeks with some tasty offers at different times of the day.
Could be very interesting especially with Cheltenham coming up.

The Boylesports specials are rubish most of the time and always have been.

They advertise "cashback" specials on avents but if you check the terms its for a free bet and stake not included.

I have seen them splashing enhancements like Real Madrid half time - full time at 11/10 but when you check the screens the real price does be 1/1 anyway.

If they start a price war with Powers there will only be one winner in the end and it wont be Boyles.

As you say tho it will be very handy for the punter if they do.:)

Yeah wouldn't disagree on most of that.
The h/t, f/t "specials" are unreal.
Can't figure out how they think people would be attracted to a "special" like
that especially of it's a tiny enhance.
I always laugh when they put something like Team X h/t, f/t @ 10/11
Why not go the whole way to Evens, wouldn't kill them?

Haha,I thought I was the only one who thought that.
Barca and Real ht/ft one night were 4/5 for the double or something stupid.

The rugby special doubles on the h/cap they offer 3.75/1 for the special double and the price for the two 10/11's does be 3.64/1 anyway.

On the plus side tho the internet screens are very handy for checking prices on sports and the girls are nearly always very friendly.
Oh and the biscuits of course.:D

I'm always amazed that PP is the only one of the "Big Boys" that has a monitor on the floor where you can check all the odds, specials etc that are on the screens and the ones that aren't.
At least you can look at them in your own time.
Boyles screens change way, way too quickly and it is very hard to read the t&c's attached to a lot of them i.e. Money Back Specials when there's a lot of writing on them.
There is nowhere else to see the screen especially when it's a shop only special so you have wait a while for it to come back on screen.
Ladbrokes don't have a screen for customers either, it's a pain having to ask the staff all the time.
Nowadays even some independents have them (Floods for one).

Bookmaker margins are small enough that they rely on volume and punters give them exactly that. The offers above are to promote multiples and maximise overround. You should be almost always be doing singles and using a betting exchange.

    .

This was published in couple of places. Describing them as 'big hitters' is a bit of a push.

Boyles have that as well in my local, you'd think they roll it out in all their shops.

The Boyles in Sligo is tiny, must say the two elderly women and the elderly gent are an absolute delight, possibly the nicest staff I've ever come across in a bookies, along with the Celtic staff in Sligo or Galway.

Must say I find the staff in the Boyles in Galway to be some of the worst. Don't look at you when giving you a bet or when I said thanks the last time I didn't even get a look up.
