I in castlebar in mayo where quite a few candidates hail from. i have a few canvassers to the door and i have not seen one of the actual people who want my vote.

i have issues i like to discuss but its pointless talking to the various party workers, i like to vent my anger to the candidates myself.

i was going to post this as a poll but its must be disabled in this forum.

just wondering has actually met face to face with someone running in the election and what did they have to say for themselves.

One FG, one SF and one Independent candidate have called to my door in person.

Dublin South - no one, not even a canvasser has called to our door - and they didn't for the Lisbon 2 referendum either.

The only leaflets (other than those posted) have been from Labour.

I live in Dublin 9. I have had one independent and one FG candidate call personally to the door. Was quite surprised and must say, if more were to do so it would almost certainly have a positive impact on their campaigns. Shame their all too busy counting their euros to find the time..... ;)

I live in Cork North West and have had one canvasser and two potential TD's to the door. The FG pot. TD asked me to vote for them as they were local and the FF pot. TD asked me to consider them for my vote. Haven't decided yet which way i'll vote.

Both FF candidates have been to my door in person.

No others, not even leaflets (them being delivered by An Post seemingly)

Very disappointed in Laois/Offaly - not a sign of a single candidate.

Leaflets coming through the door left right and cetre though......actually most of them seem like they're from the "centre" - consistently the same insipid tripe from candidates across the board

Dublin North - Have talked to James Reilly, Michael Kennedy and Clare Daly. Far more then previous campaigns, Local or General.

    Kevin Humphries - not impressive!

    No one else so far.

I've had a few. Usually the candidate will be hovering around and will come to the door if they see someone whos willing to engage with their canvassers.

Had 1 call from canvasser's for labour party. They could not answer question but did organise for a local counsellor to call with answers. In carlow and very disappointed

Mind if I ask what the question was?

I canvass myself and some people ask fairly esoteric questions. Questions on jobs, political reform and unemployment strategies are things any canvasser should know but if a canvasser didn't know the party defence policy I wouldn't be too worried.

I live in Dublin South, and I haven't had any canvassers or candidates call to my door. All I've gotten is a couple of Fine Gael leaflets through the letterbox.

Before you do check out thestory.ie and see if any candidate in your area tried to falsely claim expenses. Released recently under The Freedom Of Information Act there's over 200 letters sent out warning TDs of their "mistakes". Some have tried 3 or 4 times to do it. Even Enda Kenny tried to get 520 euro but got a rebuke after it was investigated.

I saw Michael McGrath (MM's running mate in Cork SC) out in my drive. We made eye contact as his lackie pushed through a "sorry we missed you" flyer through my front door.

As I came back from the hall, I was in time to see him turn on his heels back out the drive with his two accomplices. What a coward!! :D

One FG, one SF and one Independent candidate have called to my door in person.

One FF, one FG, two weeks ago. Nothing since.

Had a FF'er call to my door saturday, found him quite rude to be honest, just handed me a leaflet and hurried on. Could have just put it through the letterbox tbh... Are FF not interested in stopping to chat with voters aged under 30?
I've no intention of voting for them but would have appreciated an opportunity to voice my personal concerns.

Dublin southwest- haven't had a single knock on the door from any canvassers or representatives. I think we've only had one leaflet in the door too. My mother threw the leaflet out (as it didn't contain anything we didn't already know).

Terence Flanagan of FG, he's a dead ringer for Dave Jones off Sky Sports

About 30 minutes I had Jennifer Murnane O'Connor to the gate(electric). Needless to say, she had nothing to say that I would be interested in hearing.

Definitely straight out of Flock of Seagulls or Kajagoogoo.

Local Labour TD called to my door. Had a nice chat with him.

Meath West - We had 1 labour candidate call, then canvassers for the rest. My sister in Meath East had a FF candidate but 'called' himself an independent. It was only when she read the leaflet afterwards she saw the FF symbol...I wonder why he said that :)

I was in my parent's house when a candidate called. Had another candidate call to my house too, but that doesn't count because I was canvassing with him and we called in for tea while doing the area :D

Have a stack of leaflets about a foot high in the hall, but not one cadidate or canvasser. not impressed as a certain candidate's constituency office is right round the corner.

You aint gonna get my vote if you dont at least ask for it.

Canvassers from Alex White and Alan Shatter, nobody personally called.

I like to look up information on my local candidates and learn about their policies. (I used to do this when I was 12).Then when they come to the door and ask "is mammy or daddy home?" I would question their policies and values to p**s them off... The next time they only send canvassers to your area... It's funny. They like to boast but they don't like to be challenged by children. I'm 18 now and wouldn't even dream of doing it again as they would have no problem retaliating now lol...

Fair play to Mary White, she turned up on my doorstep during the first weekend of campaigning. For a junior minister, from probably the worst democratically elected government ever, to doorstep voters takes some guts. At the time I was raging with the govts record, on reflection she may get a preference for her trouble:rolleyes:

Susan O'Keeffe, didn't speak to her at the door, but when getting out of my car.

Apart from that, thats been it. Not even sure if I have heard a knock on the door, plenty of stuff put through the letter box though.

I'm in Dublin SW, had a canvasser from FF (don't know who, I wasn't in), Brian Hayes from FG, and Labour and Sinn Fein. I guess I'm in a part that votes a lot. :-/

Dublin North - met Darragh O'Brien outside the local NS, and at the local GAA dance, apart from that no one, not even canvessors.

Loads of paper to start the fire with though.
