Ministerial Cars and Canvassing

Driving through a village in Galway today, a senior FF minister was canvassing door to door and then got into his ministerial car and headed onto his next port of call.

I know he will be losing his car next week, but surely it is not right to be using a car and driver paid for by the taxpayer to canvass, I am sure he was not on minsiterial duty and canvassing is personal time.

    What do others thinks?

In the US, the candidate is charged the difference between normal usage and electoral usage. I'm not sure what the rule is here.

I would like to think the said Minister will be reimbursing the state.
