I posted this query a long time ago but no one was able to help so i thought i would share a solution i found that has been a quickfix workaround.

Anyone with an iPhone or iPad using the Wimax service will know its not exactly peaches and cream. While you can get full service on your desktops/laptops, service on the ipad/iphone is poorer with Speedtest results often showing download speeds of 0.2mb over a 6mb connection! (in my case anyway!)

After almost a year of seeking a solution i found one. Basically, Wimax operates on a "round robin" basis. The entire network in your connection gets bandwidth in rotation. So when you click on a website, whwn its you turn in the queue, it loads. Most of the time you dont have a problem. Even with an iPhone/iPad.

However try accessing Youtube or downloading something via your iPad/iPhone and you start to realise something is amiss.

Apparantely its something to do with the way Apple makes the wifi go to sleep when its not in use to save power. This coupled with the waiting time before Wimax moves on to the next person in the queue causes a conflict. By the time the wifi on your product wakes up, you have missed your slot.

So as a workaround which isnt perfect but does give you a good solution, you need to open your wimax router menu. (I think its 192.168.15.1:2000)

    Click the Advanced tab
Look for the field for Beacon Interval. (It will prob read 100ms)
    Change it to 5ms.
    Save settings.

Run a speedtest on your iPhone/iPad and you should already notice a difference.

Hope this helps anyone else who was pulling their hair out like me!
