My daughter has an appointment in South Great Georges Street in Dublin next week and just a couple of questions,

    1. Can she make a right turn off Dame Street on to South Great Georges Street

    2. If not what turns should she make to get from Dame Street to South Great Georges Street

    3. Is there on street parking on South Great Georges Street

    4. If not where would the nearest car park be

Thanks in advance all help appreciated

North Great Georges St or South Great Georges st?
I'm assuming you mean in Dublin.
David Norris lives on one, the George is on the other.

She can turn up Sth Great Georges St from Dame St when coming out from town but not the other way and probbly the best directions are to cross at O'Connell bridge and go to Dame St via Westmoreland St to get to Sth Great Georges St

there's actually a u-turn just before you reach trinity and just passed the taxi rank it's actually designed for people to avoid the bus-gate so she could do a u-turn there and turn left up georges street. though regarding parking she'd probably be better off turning right up trinity street and then to andrews lane car park, or she could leave the car in the multi-story car park behind jurys in christchurch and walk down.

drury lane car park is another option.

Google Maps consultation would be useful. Will show you driving or walking directions along with local car parking. There's no day time on-street parking on Georges St. Area is pretty busy with clampers so be forewarned.

There is no on street parking on Georges Street at peak hours (7AM-7PM) at all. There is some (expensive) on street parking on adjacent streets while off street parking immediate to George Street is available at Brown Thomas, Andrews Lane (Trinity Street as mentioned), Drury Street and your best bet, the Stephen's Green/Royal College of Surgeons; careful on these streets as the one way systems around here is fun.

Something to be careful here is that if she hits the city before 9AM that traffic will be mayhem so allow lots and lots of time or consider bus/rail if you can.

Be careful using these - they're 99% accurate but occasionally don't know about turning restrictions.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. She'll be coming in on Thomas Street and Christchurch. We put it into AA routeplanner and it told us to turn right at Palace Street and through Dame Lane on to Georges street.

Thing is looking at Google Maps Streetview we're not sure if this is possible thats why we asked on here hoping someone familiar with the area wold know.

Coming from Thomas Street, I would suggest either:

    1) Go as far as the taxi rank on College Green and do a u-turn before the bus gate in the lane provided at the top of the taxi rank and then you can turn left onto Georges Street

    or

    2) Turn right at Christchurch onto Nicholas Street, continue straight onto Patrick Street, left after St Patrick's Cathedral onto Kevin Street, then straight through the first major intersection before thening turn left onto Aungier Street - this will lead you directly to Georges Street.

Both keep you on major roads rather than going down very narrow back lanes that would be difficult to get out of.

Palace street is a few yards long and is effectively just the gateway to Dublin Castle from Dame Lane. Dame Lane at this point is blocked off with bollards. Just as well as you mentioned it; it shows that Sat Navs etc are not 100 reliable.

If she is coming in from Thomas Street, park in the Tivoli Theatre Car Park on Francis Street, the right turn at the end of Thomas Street. It's about €7 for the day and it leaves her about 10 minutes walk from Georges Street via Dame Street without the hassle of ad hoc traffic flow.

Never trust these AA routeplanner things, stick with reality .
First of all you cannot driver down Palace Street (the lane beside the George pub)and onto Dame Lane.
Palace Street is not accessible by car ,it's restricted with bollards and also if it were possible to drive down it ,you cannot drive onto Dame Lane ,it's one way .
I would suggest your daughter drives onto Dame Street, past Georges Street and takes the next right onto Trinity street and parks her car in the car park there .

My advice would be for her to turn right at Werburgh St. That's immedately after Jury's. Continue up the hill to the traffic lights and turn left on to Golden Lane (The Radisson Hotel is on the left). This runs straight on to Stephen St.Go straight through the traffic lights(provided they are green of course:D. This crosses the Georges St/Aungier St. Go straight on there and take the first left on to Drury St. and the car park is there on the left(opposite Brooks Hotel). This is the closest car park to Georges St.Drury St runs paralell to Georges St.
