Samain is 14/1 with Bet365 still, get on him. Very impressive today.

we all seen what happend with mullins and the bumper horses in cheltenham he about 5 horse and none of them could win so i wouldnt be backing anything yet

I haven't seen many but I did think Cheltenain looked impressive when he won last week.

I was just looking at Samain's breeding. That horse is made for speed. Sire is a half brother to Galileo and Sea the Stars.

    Edit-Full brother to Galileo.

Black Sam Bellamy best runs where over 1m4f and Darshaan is an influence for stamina. Samain should get 3m over Jumps.

Cork All Star was bred for speed being by a Champion Sprinter, Fasliyev and out of a half sister to a Dual Guineas winner....and he flew.

Last seen winning a point to point in Huntingdon !

According to Mullins, Samain's owners are not keen on the Cheltenham bumper, said he will have to twist their arm. he won it well and mullins reckons hes a good ground horse .

Remains to be seen how much that race took out of him, only 3 weeks to the big race some need more then that some dont.

If the owners arent that pushed i wouldnt be backing it just yet.

    Hmmm is that true ???
Personally i dont fancy the horse, but if connections dont fancy it, does that mean Gigginstowns and Michael O'Leary have another one lined up ?? Worth checking out !

Too late, already on. I think he will win it well if he reproduces that form. I might try get in touch with connections and persuade them!!

Honestly, why question Willie Mullins judgement?

That form isnt good enough to win it. The joint fav didnt run his race.

Mullins will run 8 again, Henderson has started to cop onto the fact that he can win a Grade 1 bumper, i like Ericht myself.

Every horse looks impressive when they beat moderate horses. Every year people make the same mistake in the champion bumper. They see a horse romp home at clonmel or somewhere and think this is something special. Then it finishes 17th. It's not a race to back in.

Ridiculous statement, how can you say that, i've fooking cleaned up in the bumber over the years : Dunguib, Missed That, Liberman, Cousin Vinny and Pizzaro have all done the business for me.

Stop talking nonsense or maybe its through your pocket :o:o

Is that how you talk to everybody on the internet?

How could I be talking through my pocket when I don't bet on the race?

Did you have Cue card last year? Hairy Molly in 2006?

Those winners that you mentioned certainly didn't jump off the page. You must have some nice look in the race, and maybe for that reason you should stick at it. But I wouldn't advise others to get involved.

I think I read 19 winners last year ran within a month of Cheltenham. A 2mile bumper where he clearly had little to do is not going to wreck a horse anyway.

Agree. Dodgy ride on him too I thought. He'll definitely win more races. I don't like backing a beaten horse in a Cheltenham bumper for some reason, but Ericht was very impressive and I know Harry Redknapp holds his one in very high regard. So that was impressive.

It may well set him up nicely or it could just take enough out of him to set him back a week in his training, hard to know really.

interesting that all his good runs have been on heavy or soft/heavy. different ground will most likely greet him in Cheltenham.

Honestly, why question Willie Mullins judgement?

They may not be questioning his judgement at all, the bumper may not interest them and they may have other plans for the horse.

I think its more of the long term future of the horse that concerns them Slattsy and tbh I agree with them, havent checked out this fellows breeding but im assuming hes bred to be a chaser and this race has left its mark on many a good horse.

From what ive seen i would be keen on Raise the Beat and Cheltenian for this.

Whats the attraction with Allure of Illusion? It won an average bumper in Killarney and now its 3rd favourite? is it burning up the gallops?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Must be. Hasn't raced since August, must be good word for it.

If i do have a punt with the bumper race the Henderson yard is a good starting point.A large percentage of his horses are good flat horses purchased from france, A Media Luz for example.I also look for owner Richard Kelvin Hughes who invests heavily in the bloodstock market Chablais(260'000 stirling) Invictus(162'000) and Minella class (95'000) are recent purchases and one everyone knows Chomba Womba
    3 key trends in this

Irish-trained horses have won 14 of the 18 runnings.

10 of the last 14 runnings have been won by a 5 year-old.

14 of the 18 winners emerged from the first 6 in the betting.

    get your pins out;)

We run Raise The Beat in the race and this has been his target since Christmas. He should tick all the boxes as he needs good ground, should stay the trip, travels well and has a turn of foot. Whether he is good enough, we won't know until they come out of the dip but we wouldn't swap him for anything at this stage. Trainer in good form too.

Will Divine Rhapsody get into the Race or be ballotted out?

Best of luck with this WWR/Cantoris. Looks like you found a gem. Hope it turns out to be another superstar. I had a little nibble there yesterday. No stand out horse this year. Except yours:D Do you mind me asking, how you sourced this horse? Was it @ the land rover sales?
hope Big Zeb is in as good a form as last year too.
    Best of luck on Wednesday

Lads how on earth was a David Pipe's horse allowed go off 50/1 on a bumper debut?
I'm getting on African Broadway at 25/1. Won his bumper by 20 odd lengths, Beat a Henderson horse who was favourite by 36 lengths(he beat Star Neuville 4 lengths when trained in Ireland)

Thanks for that. We bought him at the Land Rover. Think we paid 22k for him. Like all ours, we buy horses we like first and breeding second. He was a lovely mover but being by Beat All, he wasn't liked by too many others. He has flat speed on the dams side so that was enough for us to take a chance. I wouldn't by another Beat All unless it had plenty of speed on the dams side. They tend to be slow. He was big and gangly when he ran in Killarney and has strenghtened up no end since then. Let's hope he runs a nice race as most of the lads in him are first time owners.

Best of luck to all connected with Raise the Beat, You're carrying my my first 3 figure punt in over 4 years (in a Bumper, will I ever learn:rolleyes:)

Gutted I wont be there this year, but I'll be on a high stool somewhere for the race.

Came back sore. Got a knock somewhere along the way so I'd put a line through that run.

Hope all is well with him its a race that can really leave its mark on young horses, although I had the winner I also had yours backed aswell and was really hoping he would do it, hopefully bigger things around the corner!

The benefit of putting your stable jock up is that he knows what to do when he's beaten and brought him home in his own time. Hopefully nothing too serious.
