Hi, just wondering if anyone knows anything about a new postgrad course in Herbal Science? I heard it was due to be introduced 2010/2011. Has it been scrapped or has it just not been approved yet?

    Hi there

As far as I am aware, there are currently a couple of places you could try:

Veriditas Hibernica is offering a two year apprenticeship. I don't know whether it includes clinical hours. More information here:
    http://www.veriditashibernica.org/events.html

The Irish School of Herbal Medicine in Port Laoise offer a "licentiate" that apparently includes clinical hours. They appear to be affiliated with the Irish Association of Master Medical Herbalists:

These first two are not accredited ...in fact, only the BSc at CIT has any accreditation with HETAC and this is only to Level 8 and doesn't include clinical hours.

    However, take a look here:
    http://www.iimh.org/training.php

I could be wrong, but I think that the development of the Masters that was originally intended to be a continuation of the CIT BSc is offered through these guys.

The word is that the Masters can't seek accreditation until the Dept of Health have conducted a full consultation on a number of complementary therapies. They have put the consultation brief out to tender. I'm not sure if it has been awarded to anyone or what the current status is. Here is the HETAC notification of suspension of accreditation proceedings:

Please post back here if you have any more information....

    Thanks!
