    Hi,
thanks for looking at the thread :)

Basically me and the gf hate to use condoms. But obviously use them to avoid pregnancy. But we've decided we dont want to use a condom, and she doesnt want to go on the pill.

we've heard of stuff like Diaphragms and the vaginal ring. But we dont know much about either (for the record we are not young.. just our information of anything beyond a condom and pill is limited .. :P )

So can anyone advise what would be best?

    Thanks.

How about a vasectomy for you lol:) Well there are a lot of contraceptions such as the bar, coil and morning after pill. Levonelle ( morning after pill) is being sold without a prescription now at a cost of 10euro.
But abstinence is the best contraception of all:)

OP why doesn't your GF want to go on the pill?

If it's a memory thing, there are other forms of contraception such as the implant or the coil or the patch.

If it's a hormonal thing she needs to talk to her doctor.

Perhaps speak to a family planning clinic as they'd be best able to advise you on your situation.

Pill never suited me, so know how yr girl feels- we use good condoms and spermicide -(get the spermicide in family planning not in boots, boots charge nearly double the price for same stuff)
Been doing this method for about six years, never so much as a scare. Read condom instructions carefully and make sure you hold onto base of condom (thicker ring part) as you pull out after!

Morning after pill is not supposed to be used as a contraceptive, just an emergency. So I wouldnt go down the route, OP.

Get down to your nearest family planning or GP. explain what you want and they will give you a list of the best options. the family planning clinic give you plenty of time and information to make a good decision. I know this because i was in the same situation as yourselves.

regarding the contraceptive pill; dont go near it unless you genuinely need it, ive heard of people having conception issues that they blame on the MAP. I actually think it is unbelievably stupid of purity to even suggest such a thing.

Bearing in mind the amount of misinformation just from this thread alone, make an appointment with a GP, a well-woman/family planning clinic or the like and get yourselves along and ask some questions.

What works for you, won't work for others and visa versa - a general poll on contraceptions has no relevance to what will suit you and your gf.

    Best of luck.
