I predict 8 Independent TD's in the next Dail:

    Michael Lowry - Tipp North
    Catherine Murphy - Kildare North
Luke "Ming" Flanagan - Roscommon South Leitrim
Michael Healy Rae - Kerry South
    Noel Grealish - Galway West
    Shane Ross - Dublin South
Maureen O' Sullivan - Dublin Central
    Seamus Healy - Tipp South

    Any other suggestions?

Mattie McGrath in Tipp South, he'll get in

I'm seeing a bit of a trend here for Tipperary here

Paul Sommerville, Dublin SE. Very strong chances. He's in against a lot of heavyweights from the main parties, Ruairí Quinn, John Gormley (whose constituents will respect him for work against Covanta despite outgoing govt's plight), Chris Andrews, Lucinda Creighton, Eoghan Murphy...

If enough rebellious kids with wavy hair and pixie shoes get out in Dublin SE I think Dylan Haskins has a chance of being there in the last few counts.

Im not so sure. Hayes will get the first seat. Healy/Prendergast/Murphy will get the next. The other two will battle it out with Mattie McChancer for the third.

    I see

    Hayes
    Healy
    McGrath to beat Prendergast

Don't see Murphy doing well at all, he'll be eliminated

    We'll see anyway

Looking at PP'd odds here's a few more likely to get in

finian mcGrath - Dublin North Central
    Sean Canney - Galway east
    Catherine Connolly - Galway West
    Tom Fleming - Kerry south

There all big odds on favourites.

Would think Fleming is much more likely than Healy-Rae as an "independent" from Kerry South. If Fleming does get elected it will only be a matter of time before he rejoins the party "in the national interest"

Also in Kerry South, Mick Gleeson would be in with a shout and would be more of an independent voice than either Fleming or Healy Rae even though he isn't technically an independent as he is running under the South Kerry Independent Alliance banner which is an offically recognised political party. He is the only candidate the party have even put forward.

I think Paddy Kennedy in Kildare South has a huge chance to dislodge Sean Power. The PR system will really come into its own with Hendon (FG) and Wall (lab) likely to be elected without too much trouble, its a race for the third seat. Hendons transfers will likely go to independents... and certainly not FF. If Clifford Reid is eliminated I expect his transfers to be split between Jack Wall and Kennedy.. and I think that will get Kennedy across the line.. I must check the PP odds.

Betfairs odds seem to indicate about 15-16 TDs that are not from the main 5 political parties. So that would be independents/ULA combined I suppose.

Surely he will face stiff opposition from the Independent Alliance of South Kerry :-D

Yes he does, good chance he will top the poll if the indicators are correct.

I think Paul Sommerville has a good chance in Dublin South East. The 4th seat will be between Chris Andrews (FF), John Gormley (Green), Kevin Humphries (Labour) and Sommerville. I think Sommerville is probably the strongest of the lot in terms of 1st preference votes. The only problem he has is that Humphries might do better in transfers as there's quite a lot of lefties running.

Hayes is guaranteed a seat. Seamus Healy will the second and the third will prob go to Mattie gangster mcgrath with Murphy coming in fourth. Prendergast is hated by way too many to get in IMHO

Funny you should say that as in South Tipp Seamus Healy is part of the Workers and unemployed action group who have a number of cc in both clonmel/carrick/south tipp so tech not independent

What a scary list of gob****es, the thoughts that most of them could sit in the Dáil is scary.
