What happened to the days when you seen a for sale advert, wanted to buy the item at in or around the marked price, went to view the item, haggled after viewing them bough it?

as some of you may or may not know, i've been trying to sell a set of wheels and tyres on donedeal for a little over 2 weeks now, its not easy

i took the approach of an honest, descriptive, spell-checked advert, put it up there and waited for the phone to ring. it never did. but it certainly got a lot of texts.

basically some of the scenarios i've encountered are -

people saying they like them and them may buy them on their next payday

people asking will i arrange a courier for them to weird and wonderful places

people texting to ask how much i will take for them, as if there isint a price displayed

people offering swaps for other wheels, clutch kits, audio kit, half eaten mars bars, girlfriends, you name it, i've been offered it

people asking will i drive the wheels to them. meet them here, there or anywhere to view them

people asking do they buckle easily

people texting at all hours of the day or night

now basically i've easily had in the ballpark of probably well over 20 or 30 timewasters 'interested' in the wheels and wasting my time, so basically im now wondering, is my new revised advert (http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/carextras/1864004) coming on a little strong? would the wording of it even put off serious prospective buyers?

its really a last resort. personally i hate reading adverts that say 'no timewasters etc' and would never consider purchasing from them myself, but the way i see it, i've made very clear what i'm not interested in, so people know the score before they pick up the phone and surely now, only interested parties will ring?

or could anyone offer any other advice on how to flog the above wheels? i also have them advertised on a few owners forums i'm a member of.

i also don't see this as a shameless plug for my wheels, as i cant see many folk here honestly being interested in them, but if mods have an issue with the advert link, feel free to edit or delete this thread.

cheers for reading, sorry for the essay :)

All looks fine, but I would correct some spelling errors, i.e. "i'l take" I would change to "I'll take" or better "I will take".

Good Luck with the sale and I wish you no more time wasters ;).

thanks for the input guys, but you've only got 1000 characters to work with, so i've no room for more info, and thats the reason i've cut back words from the likes of "i will take", to "i'l take".

i cant wait to post the first ridiculous offer later. :)

    Please do :).

I was selling my car recently and the only thing that saved me from shooting someone over the phone / by email was my patience. These days you really need to take it easy and wait. The right person will come. It may take months, but you will sell your toys finally ;).

ah its a total joke. i know they're a fairly skanger set of wheels, so i have to expect some nonsense, but my patients are worn thin now.

i got one call last night, around midnight, 'whats the story with the alloys', and that was it, he expected me to do all the talking after that and it managed to go on for the best part of 15 minutes.

if your calling, you must have questions, is one id like to add to the list. i had given out all the info i knew about them in the add, but he didnt have anything to ask, and wasn't getting off the phone, it was painful.

then we talked about his old alloys, the state of the roads, motor tax, his car and how far was it from Cork to Wicklow because he didn't know where that was . he basically just wanted a chat i think.
