NO, That space is there to attempt to comply with the building regulations. You could always put an insulated slab inside the plaster slab you already have.

Get a bigger oil tank and a pay rise.

the slopes are curved into the ceiling would be awkward to fit new slab onto it but it did cross my mind.If i could slide something down behind the existing insulation would be the job was thinking of 25mm xtratherm. What about tht micafill loose insulation .

John Paul , did you air tight the house?. I put an insulated slab only at the sloped side of my storey 1/2 . As I have 400 mill of insulation in attic. No sure really what you can do now. If you put an insulated slab over what you have and reskimmed , ??. Not sure what stage ur at...need scaffolding etc for that..

An insulted plasterboard is not necessary if you have put enough Xtratherm between the rafters- what thickness were the insulted panels?

In order to get a .18 on a dormer- roughly at the level of current building regs, you would need an Xtratherm board between rafters of approx 150mm - you can check their site for extra information on this.

As with others advise even with breathable menbrane you should still leave a gap
