    Hi guys!

We just got engaged recently and are eager to get a venue and date decided. We're going to look at Mount Wolesley tomorrow and this is the first place we will have looked at.

Does anyone have any tips/ questions we should make sure to ask / things to watch out fornwhen we're looking around??

Neither of us are looking forward to trying to haggle with hotels so that should be interesting!!!

They will try to sell you the full package, but usually they have an a la carte version where you pick all the things you want and it usually works out cheaper :o . You can negotiate by telling them you don't want certain things but you want other things instead. Don't just agree to what they tell you, tell them, nicely, what you want and what you expect to pay for it. If they suggest something, just look at them and say 'we can't afford that' and they will be flexible and tell you what you can afford. If they're not flexible and helpful, if you don't feel like you've got somewhere in the initial conversation don't go with them cos you're gonna be dealing with them quite a bit.:o

Ask how many rooms they will give you at discount rate for the first x guests

Ask when there is a wedding there so you can see the room at it's best

    cost of corkage

    menu options

alot of hotels are doing wedding fair's at the moment, and they will usually have the whole room done up as they would for a wedding and they show you the bridal suite too at most of them,

might be worth your while contacting them to see if any are on in the venues you are looking at,

there was another thread here i found great for dealing with the hotel, pricing and stuff...
