I refuse to pay the new social charge that's being imposed on me by the government to pay for bailing out the banks, surely if threatened with prison it would be an infringement of my human rights as I didn't incur the cost in any shape or form and owe neither the government or the banks anything. Would it be worth a test case in the EU? It might put an end to this ludicrous tax.

We won't. A few people will go on Doe Juffy and complain about it, think they done a great job and surrender to being shafted more by the Government.

It wouldn't be any harder than trying to make ends meet outside anyway and I've a load of medical problems I need fixing and can't afford the time or the money to get them fixed, after all, prisoners get preferential medical attention too.

doesnt it just come straight out of your wages though? I dont see how you can not give it,you have to give it whether you like it or not!

That sounds like Freeman talk there, pilgrim.

There's a thread on it in the 'Conspiracy Theories' forum, or check out Tirnasaor.com (edit; for balance there's another thread in 'Legal Discussion' entitled 'Judicial Oath, where the solicitors aren't having a bar of it)

Though strictly speaking, I think freemen give up their benefits also.

I'm self-employed so I have to pay it at the end of the year.

How do you intend to avoid paying it OP,are you self employed,do your own tax returns? If not it's damn near impossible if your taxed at source. I'm fairly certain your boss won't withhold it from Mr Taxman.

Find out how much it is and cook the books for that amount in tax that you won't pay. Pretty fukking easily done if you are self employed.

Yeah right..........maybe if you're turning millions but not as a one man operation.

I find it hard to believe how willing people are to pay for the sins of others, I suppose that's why we're in the state we're in now, nobodies willing to make a stand.

Only if you are a one man operation. I guess it depends what you do though. Can you not just do jobs for x cash in hand and not declare it?

x = the cost of the social charge.
