Entitled to ask for a new contract?

    Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me.

I recently got a nice pay rise in work which I am very happy with. However, I am still working under the terms of my contract which was signed before the pay rise. Although I have been granted the pay rise and it has come into effect, because it is not in my contract there's nothing to stop them taking it back off me again. So I would like a new contract with my new salary listed on it.

Is it reasonable to ask for this? Or should it be something that was provided without me even having to ask?

    Thanks for any replies.

Do you get wage slips, if so do they have the new payrise on it, if it does then this should be sufficient proof for them not to just cut your wages without consulting you. Personally I would just ask, the fact that you got a payrise tells me that you must be performing well and your job should be safe so surely they would understand. Is there anyone you are close to in work that you could discuss these kinds of matters with and find out if there contract changed when there pay went up

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I do get pay slips, which have my new salary on them. I hadn't thought of that, but I think that's enough documentation alright.

Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to ask about it, as there's only three of us in my office and the others don't know about my pay rise!

Contracts aren't generally updated to reflect pay rises, unless perhaps it came with a promotion that was a considerable change from your old role.

At the very least, I'd ask for a letter confirming your new salary.

Yeah, this seems like a reasonable request. I'll do that. Thanks!

Edit: I actually received one of these at the time! I completely forgot about that. Silly me :o That will be perfectly sufficient. Thanks!
