I notice Basecamp on Abbey street currently have a ski boots sale. Anyone know if they have skilled ski boot fitters working there or if I'm best going to the likes of the Great Outdoors or Snow&Rock?

Check the bootfitting thread for info. Shops that don't specialise in bootfitting will as a rule not have the expertise and practical experience to properly fit and advise clients. Shops like this tend to give bad advice re proper boots and when it comes to sizing and fitting are a nightmare.

Only places in Ireland I would let near my feet ar Mcski Belfast or Snow and rock Dublin

I work in the industry and know how gets proper training in various shops and actually give some of the training for shops

Boots are the 1 thing you don't want to get wrong

Prices in Snow & Rock look reasonably competitive with respect to other Irish stores anyway (not sure what the prices are like in resorts, they seemed quite pricy in St. Anton anyway). Have they done sales in previous years? Not in any rush to get a pair, if there's a bargain to be had, I'll go for it, if not can hang on until next season.

MOst shops do an end of season sale apex 25-50% off stock prices, As it stands currently it is actually as a rule cheaper in Ireland and the Uk than in Europe due to exchange rates and manufactures taking the hit on exchange rates.

Depends what you are looking for to be honest but there are always bargains toe had if you are up from with them about your cost and what you are planning to spend.

53 degrees north have a good sale on at the moment. 53% off a lot of their stock.

Again their boot fitters suck! Have had clients whose boots are more than a size to big after being fitted there!

Mind you was in there today and got great gloves for 14 quid so bought 2 pairs ha ha
