    Downfall (German)

Chronicling the last days of Hitler. An absolutely fantastic film with some tremendous performances, notably Bruno Ganz (I think that's his name) as Hitler. Brilliant film.

really enjoyed City Of God. Mesrine is pretty good. La haine is a quality film about the flats in Paris, also worth checking out is Gomorrah (brilliant book) about the naples Mafia

I loved "Mid August Lunch", an italian film I saw in IFC. Shrieked with laughter at the comment by the mother about the cake one of the ladies brought.
I liked the Swedish (i think) one called "let the right one in". I had read the book earlier and it was was creepier and sadder, the book I mean.
Gerard Depardieu as Cyrano de Bergerac. Marvellous
He was in another years ago, cant remember what it was called but he was dressed up as woman.

Off the top of my head that's all that comes to mind. If i think of more will post them.

The Fighter (American) is a great movie. If you haven't already seen it I'd recommend a trip to the cinema to see it!

Barbarian Invasions - came out the same time as Big Fish but dealt with the relationship between a dying father and his family much better (I thought). Really beautiful film.
City Of God is a great film.
Mesrine (part 1 is way better than part 2).
Amelie - utimate feel good film
Pans labrynth and to a lesser extent the Devils backbone.
5x2, an amazing french film told backwards about a couple breaking up. Something like blue valentine but a million times better.
The beat that my heart skipped.

They're just a few of my favs offhand.
