Rib injuries

First off, I'm not looking for medical advice here, just looking for people's experiences and attitudes towards rib injuries.

Just over 2 weeks ago i got knee/elbow/something in the rib cage in training going down on a ball. Was sore at the time but finished the session, didnt think too much of it.

Two nights later I played half a challenge match and got another belt on the same area, found it difficult to sprint and breathe without it being very sore.

I've played another match and trained once since and there hasnt been any improvement. I was doing a weight programme in the gym but tried it once and felt it aggravate it so havent done it since.

Just wondering what people do to get over these kind of injuries. It's obviously just bruised or maybe some damaged cartilage, not fractured as the pain isn't too bad unless i do something to aggravate it.

Is rest the only answer? Have our first league match on Sunday week so dont really want to be missing too much training.

    Any other tips?

    Cheers

If it's been causing you that much discomfort for the past couple of weeks, you should really go and get it checked out.
