Hi all, I was just thinking, considering most Sections have some sort of Boards Beers, I was wondering would there be enough interest in having a few heads from here for a pint?

    Any takers?

Why don't ya hold it in Charleroi, leave dub at 08:00, get into Charleroi for 10, leave Charleroi at 19:25 all for 16euro return

And ya all get to go on a plane :P

I would be up for it.... the bar at Weston ?

If there is a boardsie who knows someone perhaps we can get an airside tour to have a good look at the nice Beech etc in the hanger ?

I'm sure if you give them a call they wouldn't mind - they may have to send an employee out as a sort or chaperone though...

Thats more like it, I have 2 weeks free in March I dont mind going to Dublin for a night out, I have never been to Weston either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,924 ✭✭✭Nforce

I love to get some up close shots of the Buccaneer,DC-3,Catalina and C-45 if possible...so count me in.

Actually...come to think of it...how about incorporating a tour of Baldonnel?

Now your talking !!!!!!! I would love that ......

The bucc is right next to the fence now , so even from the road I reckon you could almost touch it .

Any IAC on the board ?

March is reasonably clear for me

I think that a meet is a great idea and hopefully I can be there too..
The one problem with having it in March would be the unreliable weather at that time of year, It would be a shame if the weather was bad on the day..

If it was up to me I would try and have it a bit later in the year, sometime from early May onwards when the days are a bit sunnier and warmer and then you could relax in the bar at weston and watch the flying as you sip a beer and chat...

So fellas, anybody care to set a date?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166 ✭✭TW Mr Tayto

I've got a feeling this might be an over 18s affair? ;)
    It's cool, it's cool.
    I don't need you guys:cool:
I've got 2 spinny things, and an IO-540 to keep me happy.

With the way Mansfield is going we'll be lucky to have a Weston in May!

Your correct AFAIK, I might drop a date tomorrow or Monday and see who agrees? Reason being I have 2 weeks holidays mid march so il need to book a hotel in Dublin and get PM's from all interested parties here with phone numbers.

    Kindest regards,

    Dave.

Stickied. I can attend via Skype :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,942 ✭✭✭Danbo!

Depending on the date, I'm just over surgery, Ill do my best to go too. It wouldn't have to be strictly over 18s, would it? No problem if it is but no point excluding folk if possible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 714 ✭✭✭islanderre

    Evening folks,

Would be very interested (Shift Worker here so dependent on work roster) in attending a meet 'n' greet 'n' social beer.

Think a late spring / early summer date would be best due to weather and possible Weston / Baldonnel tour (I wish and hope!!!!!) with sunlight.

    Just my 2 cents.....

Ireland v England at the Aviva that day so city and surrrounds will be packed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,181 ✭✭✭Davidth88

    19th is ok for me

Centre of town would be busy , but the rugby crowd wouldn't normally effect anything out here ... anyway , we may see a few English visitors ( we can wish )

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,266 ✭✭✭Steyr

If it is the 19th I propose a day at the Airport then to a Pub for the night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,181 ✭✭✭Davidth88

MY days sitting at airports are well and truly over ( spent most of 20 yrs spotting all over the world ).

If you visiting Weston Ill pop over , any pub you are visiting in the evening I should be able to attend .

Is Dublin the most get-to area? A hotel is looking tough and or expensive due to the 6n.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,752 ✭✭✭cyrusdvirus

What hotels are you looking at? Plenty in Leixlip or Lucan which are the local towns for weston

I do not drive so I was looking for something around the City Area.

I'd definitely be up for the Weston/Baldonnell thing, not too bothered about the pints though as I work shifts.

What part of the country do you live in? Surely someone here who drives could meet up with you to get you to Weston etc.

might be better to go out a bit towards Lucan. That way you are closer to Weston, not a million miles away from Baldonnell too. Plus the hotels would be a bit cheaper. PLenty of buses from Hueston head out that direction, and if i'm not mistaken there is even a bus stop right outside the old entrance to weston on the 67 route

I'm going to Volunteer my services for transport (provided you're not an unwashed serial killer:D), I'll PM you details.

Should we be doing all this by P.Ms at this stage? Can anyone here organise a tour of Baldonnell? If we can get an idea of numbers I think it's only a matter of ringing them and they'll oblige.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭pauraic1990

I up for meet and greet. It would be great if we get a tour of baldonnell.
I am suited anytime. I from Meath.

Hi Guys, Leixlip/Lucan/Celbridge only works if we manage to bag a tour of the hangers in Weston, otherwise if a tour of Baldonnel is on the cards then Dublin City might be a better bet. Either way, I'm in.

    Hi guys,

I feel we might move this to April to give more time to those who want to attend but who are unsure yet, no rush.
