Setting up a white label product - how to protect it

    Hey,
I have quite a simple idea for an addition to my website for making the customer experience a lot better. It makes a particular process a lot easier, and has other benefits regarding SEO and brand impressions etc.

I think a lot of similar service providers could also benefit from using something like it and they should see the advantages of it straight away.

I haven't seen anything exactly like it elsewhere, so I'm thinking of building it so that it can be sold as a white-label, so others can purchase it, brand it themselves and add it to their own website.

Because it is quite basic and would be easy enough for others to make themselves, I'm wondering is there any way to protect the concept so it isn't ripped off?

    Thanks

This is a fair point, if you assume you will be copied, you could do the following:

    1) Make yours super simple to use
    2) Make it easy for people to find on google
    3) If possible, include a link back to your site
    4) Keep improving it

I've some experience with things like, so happy to talk further if you wish.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the replies.

I had thought about offering it for free but branded and linking back to the download site, or charging a fee (maybe $20-$50) to remove the branding.

However, I would need to make it difficult to remove the branding, with a price point low enough that most people wouldn't be bothered doing so.

With this approach, it should get more widespread usage as the uptake has a much lower barrier.
