Looking to buy an Altezza. I love the look of these cars. I'm 22 and I'm not a boy racer. Would be looking at a 02 and onwards. Price range be from 5k max be 7k.
Would there be any alternative car or better car then an Altezza for that price range?
Reason I ask is I know its not the best value car in the world so just woundering what other options there would be. Thanks.

Theyre great cars 220hp is about enough ... and 25mpg is great for that amount of power but its very hard to find one in good condition. There is no good alternative which goes up to 8k rpm :P And insurance is pain in da ass 123.ie 3ncb and im 22 - 2400e, axa and similar dont insure altezzas

What about the Honda Accord Type R you would get a 2002-2003 one for that price tax is more expensive and its FWD buts its well equipped and easier on the insurance becuase its english its got 220bhp also and its not too bad on juice I have a 1999 one and I can get 380 miles out of a tank on a mix of driving

Pretty useless info without knowing the tank size ;)

    Is it a 70L tank? 40L tank?

65 litres just worked it out about 26mpg.The newer versions from the face-lift upwards are slightly better Mpg as they are mapped for 95 Octane petrol (i Use E5 in mine because they were origionally mapped for 98 Octance on pre-face-lift models)

Personally I like Altezzas but I'd say that you could struggle to find a nice clean one that hasnt been to the local crossroads doing hoops. I know of a very nice SR20DET Altezza for sale but he's looking for 10k for it :(

Thanks for the posts, I looked at the Accord but the quotes I was getting back where higher then the Altezza plus tax on top of that.

if you like the look then a GS300 is its bigger brother without the scumbag image

if you like the power and dont mind being pulled over every 2 seconds then a subaru legacy B4 RSK may be the job

The kit might be a bit much for you OP but heres a supercharged Altezza within your budget. There would be pretty good power from one of them plus the awesome whine of supercharger :D

How about the Accord Euro R:

Pretty much the rival to the Altezza in Japan. To be honest at 22 insurance is going to be pricey on any of these type cars.

Where have all the Altezzzas gone? There isn't one tenth of the amount driving around now that were around a few years ago..

Altezza's are 207 bhp as standard with very few making over 200bhp on Irish fuel without modifications.

My mate bought an Altezza a year ago for €7k.

Other mate got a 525i E39 Sport a few weeks ago for less than €5.5k. If you offered me three Altezzas over the E39 I wouldn't take them. Compared to what you get for for money, E39 all the way.

If you love the look, you love the look. No point in us telling you to buy a Honda or a BMW :D

Why don't you get its twin sister, the Lexus IS200? A bit more refinement (6-pot engine) and luxury and a slightly less knackery reputation. Probably better to insure too (for the same reason)

I forgot to mention, my mate who bought the Altezza refers to it as "scrap" now. :)
I get the feeling he doesn't like it...

You can get an altezza with the same engine as the is200 too although most are auto's.

I personally like them but if I was buying I'd get one with a 6 cylinder engine. Much smoother and the low down torque is much better for every day driving and makes it feel just as fast as the 3sge engined cars.
