Hello, I'm currently doing my leaving cert and im looking for a career in aviation...I was wondering how hard would it be to get an apprenticeship in Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic?

According to the website there's no current vacancies so 0 chance for now. What kind of points do you think you'll get in the leaving? Could study Aviation management in DCU (420 points) or Aviation Technology in DIT. (Can't find the points) if you want a career in aviation. Could always consider the British army as an option as well, depends on your views though.

    Hi there,
It's not a secret or anything. EI will run a standard apprenticeship competition, allied with FAS and DIT Bolton Street, as far as I know. The apprentices will sit the JAA modular exams in due course and will get their OJT and practical training in Aer Lingus and the DIT workshops.I don't know when the competition will actually start, so it might be no harm to check with your careers guidance teacher. It will happen in September.
Herr Mueller is very keen on it going ahead.
    regards
