It ALWAYS matters how others treat you, especially if it's abusive treatment.

Being drunk, being depressed, being whatever never gives anyone, least of all a partner, the right to be abusive. If people have issues with anger or whatever else is going on in their lives then it's their responsibility to seek help and deal with those issues. It is not loving, responsible or excusable to just take it out on whatever poor soul is closest to them.

You may find some useful numbers here - if you are in an abusive relationship then please tell someone and seek help.
