Check if it has safety marks like 'GS' etc. and if not, run a mile, especially as it's an electrical item which runs under pressure i.e. risk of electrocution and/or explosion if it's not manufactured to a high standard. You need to see a manufacturer name and a country of origin, if not it's probably made in a country where safety standards are non-existent.

I saw a small stepladder for sale in Cornelscourt the other day, checked it for safety marks & not a sausage. I bought a similar stepladder in Woodies recently and it's covered in safety marks as were all the other models I studied before I bought.

    Caveat Emptor.

I recognise the brand name, Ewbank is known here for those manually operated carpet cleaners that sweep up dust with two spiral roller brushes in the unit that you push round the room.

I downloaded the manual for the Steam Dynamo steam cleaner, the warranty data at the end of the manual mentions a company called Earlex who appear to specialise in steam cleaners. It turns out that Earlex owns Ewbank, I'd guess that they use the Ewbank brand for their smaller appliances because the average punter will recognise the brand name.

It all looks above board, you'd be buying an Earlex steam cleaner with a Ewbank badge so I'd have no problem with it.

Hi did you buy that steam cleaner? Was it good? I am currently looking for one, do you know if Dunnes still have them or what Dunnes did you buy in?
Does it have attachments for doing blinds, windows etc etc with it also? Sorry for all the questions.

Might be better to send MinnyMinor a PM in case he/she isn't watching this forum these days, that thread was last updated in Feb.
