Satellite meter for Ka-Sat

Just wondering, what sort of satellite dish alignment meter will be needed for Ka-Sat when it starts up soon?
I have an Emitor Satlook Micro G2, but I am not sure if it will be up to the job for Ka frequencies.
Don't want to be buying a new meter now.:(

Frequencies aren't an issue - the LNBFs will downconvert to the same range 19.7-20.2GHz -> 950- 1450 MHz.

The bigger issue is whether the meter support DVB-S2, and the Emitor Satlook Micro G2 doesn't. So most of the functions won't work (BER, constellation etc). However, you will still be able to use the spectrum analyzer function assuming you have the newer firmware.

If the spectrum works, then I can get the dish aligned, job done:)

You need BER to set LNB skew.
A DVB-S2 meter needed now for most Ku Band Satellites too.
A kink or damage on a cable can cause a problem just at one or two transponder frequencies. The damage can be in a wall where you can't see it.

Skew may be more critical with Ka-Sat in South East Coast as in reality the spots overlap slightly.

As I said above, buying a new meter, especially one that costs thousands, is absolutely out of the question.
Guess I will have to forget about Ka-Sat then.
Anyone want to buy a small business.....?

Sathunter is only a few hundred euro, and does S2 modulation, and signal strength, MER, and something else, just can't remember.

Not if you use the spectrum analyzer function properly.

The Horizon HD-S2 Satellite Signal Meter was reviewed in the Oct/Nov 2010 issue of TELE-satellite magazine. The meter does DVB-S2, Ka Band and BER.

Stupid question but couldn't you find 9 east using the KU Capability of the Meter and then fine tune on the KA part afterwards?

The IF is same. A proper DVB-S2 meter will work on C, Ku or Ka band.
