    hello,

I have a 1L corsa. I put 20 euro petrol in it and I got around 80/85 miles out of it. tbh I was expecting to be getting a lot more out of 20 euro or does that sound about right?

Could any one tell me what does that work out in MPG? I have a big enough exhaust on it atm could that be effecting my mpg? Any help is much appreciated,

    Thanks.:)
edit Im not driving it in an urban environment. I'm driving in it small towns and country roads.

MPG has more to do with 'how' you drive the car than anything else, you should be getting around 40 mpg from a 1l Corsa, or better, I've managed over 50mpg in a 1.2 Punto - rural driving, 50 mph, gentle acceleration, very little braking etc etc.

    Assuming €1.45 per litre

    20 euro = 13.8 litres

    13.8 litres = 3.03Gallons (4.54609188 litres=1 gallon)

80 miles from 3.03 gallons is 26.4 MPG.

Thats terrible MPG from a corsa tbh.

tbf Ive been trying to drive it as economically possible recently.getting it to 5th as quick as possible etc with gentle acceleration and little braking as you say

The only way to measure it accurately is to fill the tank, drive on it then brim it again. No point trying to work out anything otherwise.

What difference would it make when it's full? Do you mean fill it, run it tills it's empty and then fill it again?

You don't know how much exactly is left in the tank when you add 20 euro in or whatever making your figures very rough guestimates. If you brim it, drive it for as long as you like then brim it again you will know exactly how much fuel has been used.

As suggested the best way to check is to fill tank, note the mileage and drive, then fill again and note the miles driven.
Probably best to drive at average speed on the open road for the purpose of the test. Lots of very short city drives will use a lot of fuel.

Ok, il try that. I said in the OP I have a big enough exhaust on it atm could that be one of the reasons why it seems my car isn't very economical?

it wouldnt help but certainly not that big a difference on it.
