    Constituency
    Voters ---- Seats

    Carlow Kilkenny
    347 ---- 5

    Cavan-Monaghan
    190 ---- 5

    Cork South-Central
    364
    5

    Laois-Offaly
    252 ---- 5

    Mayo
    305 ---- 5

    Dublin West
    396 ---- 4

    Dún Laoghaire
    406 ---- 4

    Kildare North
    390 ---- 4

I have just looked at the table on Boards showing the number of voters per constituency and the number of seats. http://www.boards.ie/vote/results.php?c_id=nat

Article 16 2 3° of the Constitution provides that "The ratio between the number of members to be elected at any time for each constituency and the population of each constituency, as ascertained at the last preceding census, shall, so far as it is practicable, be the same throughout the country."

I am certain that the constituencies have been changed since the last election as for example Dublin West was a 3 seater and is now a 4 seater..

In the constituencies above, and these are just a few that stick out, there are a number of 5 seat constituencies that have very significantly fewer voters than 4 seat constituencies.

Is this a mistake and will it give the disgruntled loser a chance to challenge the election results?

EDIT DOH! Time for bed Murt. Way past your bedtime

That's the number of people who have voted in the boards.ie online election poll. Not the number of voters in the constituency. It's an online poll, not the real election.

While stale, that is how the constituencies were created: http://www.constituency-commission.ie/newreports.htm

Realistically, the discrepancies reflect the technical and social differences between general society and boards.ie
