    Hi Lads,

Dont know much about road bikes but I'm very keen to get into it. I'm 6 foot tall and have a deal on a Lapierre S tech 500 size 55. Cant seem to find decent info on sizing of Lapierre bikes - anyone know if size 55 would suit 6 foot tall (ballpark) I know I'll have to try it, but just wondering if id be wasting my time.

    Cheers

Dunno how accurate this table is:
    lapierre-s-tech-geometry.gif

In conventional terms it looks like a relaxed 57cm bike, which would be in the right ball park for someone 6'.

The shortish top tube (TT-565mm) and tall headtube (HD-180mm) would suggest this is a comfort rather than an aggressive/racing fit.

Probably 56-58 depending on your inside leg lenght, a far more accurate way to measure bike size than height. the 55 might be too small unless you have short legs, but worth a try.

The 55 Lapiere is somewhere between a 56cm Specialized Roubaix (but slightly more aggressive) and a M/L Giant TCR (but slightly less aggressive). Both of which would accommodate a 6' rider.

The 52 Lapierre is more like a conventional/traditional 55cm bike.

I'm 5 ft 11 and a half. Could probably just about justify a 6 ft tag with my boots on. I ride a 56, which would be the classic size recommendation, but my winter bike is a size 54 Colnago to which I've fitted a sharply raised stem and a slightly longer seat post. It's very comfortable for me now the way it's set up, and I'd say it's because I've sort of a short back so the shorter reach suits me better.

I suppose what I'm saying is that you can make a frame fit better with finishing kit selection, and there's no guarantee that a 56 will fit you any better than a 54 or a 55 or a 58. -Don't treat it like an arranged marriage - throw your leg over one before making any long term commitments... :)

for a 5 foot 11 bloke or 6 foot person, a 56 frame is recommended.

really it depends... my bike history (I'm 184cm)

    1990's 58cm steel
    2001 55cm Principia
    2004 58cm Trek
    2007 56cm Ridley

Apart from the steel frame, all of the others showed roughly the same amount of seatpost.

To the O/P - you really have to sit on the bike before you buy it, but whatever you do, don't buy it too big. Reading the geometry chart, a 55cm Lapierre should be a nice fit though.
