Just seen that new (hot angels falling from the sky) lynx ad on tv for the 1000 time.
It got me thinking, is it all just the usual bull****, or is there any truth behind the lynx myth? Can women just not resist the smell?:D
I used to get told i smelt good, when i used to wear the africa one!
    Share your experiences lads!

I do believe women love a fresh clean smell.
The danger is guys spraying half a can of Lynx over a couple of days BO rather than shower.
Can't beat a shower and shave followed by a splash of Lacoste IMHO

Most (not all) Lynx smell rank to be honest.

Oh I love Lynx smell on a guy, but when they put too much on it's worse than none at all. Too much Lynx on someone next to me feels like it crawls up my nose and shouts offensive remarks at my brain.

For years Lynx was used as an anti perspirant by alot of men which i couldn't understand.
I know they make an anti perspirant now.

I'm round my mates place, once a week. He's half my age and single. Just seems content to work all the hours his boss sends. Then come home and tinker about at his hobbies.

Thing is; His bathroom is always littered with " Lynx " products.

I feel like telling him; " Want to chat a chick up? Get some decent stuff! Bit of 'Obsession' or something. Costs an arm and a leg, sure. But ye smell like what ye've paid for. But Lynx? No self respecting shoplifter would go after it. "

Maybe it just 'works' for blokes who work around blokes and simply want to feel they've used an antiperspirant and maybe a dash of 'smellies'. Just because.

Personally? I'd as soon slap on dash of my Dogs urine.

    Dog's Urine??????

    Nobody else????
Maybe I set my standards are too low

Lynx in my opinion is everything wrong about smell..

It would make me run away very fast..

Pick a decent aftershave and it's much better..

    :)

Cheap and smells nice for lads : Lynx

Cheap and smells nice for girls : Impulse

I've had more compliments from my Impulse spray than from when I'm wearing the expensive crap :pac: Some of the expensive stuff on both the mens and womens side are utter rank!

Got no problem with the Lynx smell on lads**, some are really nice. Plus reminds me of being a teenager in the diiiiiisco :p

**as long as the lads aint trying to hide BO either with lynx or expensive stuffs :pac:

My son wears Lynx all the time.
That's why he hardly ever pulls.
I thought it was just cos he was an ugly sod!!!!:D

I thought this was all a big fib, then once there was this new lynx. I went into work and females I didn't even know came up to me and asked did I need help with this that and the other & loads were real nice to me (which is strange)
Then that weekend we were at a music festival and one of the girls said mmmm you smell nice and I got off with her mate. So it might not work all the time but whatever one this was it did that week!

She smelled the chocolate in your back pocket.

The only reaction Lynx gets from women is retching. Some people tend to forget that it's not a shower in a can!!

I like and use both Lynx Dark Temptation and the new one Excite, but only use the Lynx Dry ones. And I don't try to mask BO with them. And I do wear aftershave too. I often get compliments on how I smell when I'm out! :)

    i couldn't resist, sorry,

Brian Fantana: I]about Veronica[/I I'll give this little cookie an hour before we're doing the no-pants dance. Time to musk up.
    I]opens cologne cabinet[/I
Ron Burgundy: Wow. Never ceases to amaze me. What cologne you gonna go with? London Gentleman, or wait. No, no, no. Hold on. Blackbeard's Delight.
Brian Fantana: No, she gets a special cologne... It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.
    Ron Burgundy: It's quite pungent.
    Brian Fantana: Oh yeah.
Ron Burgundy: It's a formidable scent... It stings the nostrils. In a good way.
    Brian Fantana: Yep.
Ron Burgundy: Brian, I'm gonna be honest with you, that smells like pure gasoline.
Brian Fantana: They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
    I]cheesy grin[/I
Ron Burgundy: That doesn't make sense.
Brian Fantana: Well... Let's go see if we can make this little kitty purr.

Yeah, Lynx smells pretty overpowering. I don't like the smell of it at all, it makes me a bit queasy, at least in part because I associate it with the stink of the bus home after PE back in school.

Ill never understand it. Any girlfriend ive had have always loved the smell of Lynx. Any aftershave ive ever bought has been nice IMO but apparently Lynx was nicer, weird race these women!!! How can they prefer Lynx to Burberry Touch?

I've been using it since 1988 and no complaints so far...unlikely to get any after 23 years of using Lynx Africa.

People are probably too afraid to get close enough to complain:D

Ugh. Each to their own but Lynx just smells cheap. It hovers around people and nothing worse than breathing in near someone who has just put some on as it gets into your mouth and you're tasting it for the next hour.

I don't go mad on expensive body washes or designer deodorants but nothing wrong with spending that extra €1 and getting a Gilette or Nivea anti-perspirant. Decent shower gel followed by that and you're sorted. Not much of a fragrance, just keeps you from sweating or smelling of BO. Lynx has quite a strong smell. If I want to have a smell coming off me I'll use aftershave; that's what it's for and they're far nicer than Lynx without being overpowering (unless you lash it on). Nothing worse than being in an elevator with someone who thinks Lynx (or any strong smelling underarm spray like Brut also) should be lashed on to to keep you smelling good.

A decent shower gel, and a splash of Hugo Boss behind the ears and on the wrists is all you need.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,090 ✭✭✭jill_valentine

Yeah, like you want a deodorant or anti perspirant that, you know, stops you getting reeky, but all I like to smell is hint of a good shower gel. I do actually find that genuinely attractive.
