    Hi guys,

Just wondered if anyone can recommend a business bank account for sole traders? The turnover wont be huge the first year and overdrafts, credit cards, loans, cheque books etc are not needed. Just need a visa debit card and a business current account. I read on askaboutmoney that some banks wont even consider you unless you have an annual turnover of €250,000

    Any recommendations guys?

    Cheers

I had no problems opening a business account with Bank of Ireland. I just needed the usual ID for opening an account, plus my cert from the CRO with my registered business name.

They didn't offer Visa debit cards, just a credit card with a very small limit that is cleared entirely every month. That was 2 years ago though, so maybe the debit cards are readily available now.

Unless you're operating under a different name, would a separate personal account not do?

AIB were offering two years no fees. Not sure if it is still available.

I have signed up with Ulster Bank and I find them very good. They have an online service that's comprehensive and free of charge. I think some of the other banks charge for this.

BOI offer 2 years free banking and free access to their online business banking system, best to have a close look at the different account charges for each bank before deciding on who to go with
