For €12.49 delivered... well, it would be rude not to, wouldn't it? :D

I wouldn't worry about that - confirmations are automated... they're only acknowledgement of an order.

It'll then be passed to the dispatch department shortly after.

I failed with that, I had to order it, just to watch while I am waiting for the extended editions. Absolute bargain, cheers OP.

Got mine at €12.49 too. Delighted, missus isn't pleased with "unnecessary spending". 100% necessary IMHO.

Man just got home from work and would love to order this :( Isn't a "1 day deal" supposed to last for 1 bloody day

Dang, ill hold out for extended edition.... same as I did the DVDs!

    :D

Now that I think of it, 12.49 could well be a misprice of 21.49. Wouldn,t be surprised if it was cancelled TBH.

Without getting too much into it.. I'll just say that movies, in their native recording format, are recorded in a much higher resolution than even Blu-ray.

Movies are actually downscaled to Blu-ray! ;)

I'll stick with my DVD extended editions then

I have the extended DVDs but hate having to change the disk half way through each movie so can't wait for the extended Blurays!

I would not be surprised if they are still split over 2 discs

If the extended edition of King Kong at almost 3.5 hours can fit on a 50 GB Blu-ray disc with over 10 GB to spare, then I'd say even the extended edition of Return of the King could fit.

Any idea of a release date yet for the extended Bluray DVDs?? Really can't wait to get them. Could be a long weekend stuck in front of the TV eating nothing but popcorn and an odd pizza here and there!!

    Nope, none as of yet.

Rumours are it'll be this year though.

See this entry on wikipedia for an explanation.

The film you see on a cinema screen is actually about six times greater resolution than a bluray. However, because of the law of diminishing returns, the picture you see on your 42'/50' TV may appear better due to the size of the screen you're looking at & how close you are.

On a very large screen (think Savoy 1) even a 2k image (industry standard for digital projection even though it's about to double), would have pixels up to a third of an inch in height. in this case you would be better off sitting nearer the back of the screen. Dust on the screen can also greatly affect the image quality.

To put it into perspective. The above mentioned king kong took up about 40GB. Guilliver's Travels came compressed on a 2TB hard disk.
