Hi there, just looking for some opinions really. We're in the process of looking at builder quotes and have just received our first one. It was itemised and I thought some sections looked extremely expensive. Firstly the plastering was 35k for a 2600sqft house. And with this the house has natural stone on the front so obviously no plastering required here. Secondly, he was charging 20k for the fit and supply of natural stone for 89sqft. Does anybody else think this is pricey or have the cost of stonemasons remained pretty much the same as before? thanks

I'm in the middle of my build so not sure of my final costs for plastering. My plastering quotes for a 2500spft dormer averaged at 8k incl a garrage. So far I have only the outside plastered and I've spent about 1k on materials (sand, cement etc). Regarding my stone I have a 15 m2 area (161sqft). This is going to cost me just under 2k. Stonemasons were quoting me €80/metre, my block layer has done my stone and he's come in a bit cheaper. Hope this helps.

Labour only for 148sqm external render, 193sqm internal plastering, slabbing of 102.5sqm of ceilings & 100sqm of internal walls, scaffolding provided is costing me just under €4k

Allowing labour only stone masons cost between 50 to 85 per square metre to build.

labour only on plastering shouldnt exceed 12k on that size of house in present climate. (all depends on size of walls/rooms and number of returns)

    hi sarah ann
that sound too cheap, you should get referances, see other jobs hes completed. if he genuine thats a great price.
    I d say 10000 to 12000 would be a more realistic price
    Best of luck with it
    regards

hi all , jumping in on this thread...just wondering what type of plastering you are all talking about? We have been advised to go with K rend nap plaster on the outside and regular plaster in the inside. Anyone any ideas about this, is it much more expensive...

    cheers
    K

    hi katie
Most people use sand cement knapped on the out side (tried and tested) very durable. you only 1 colour get if your using grey sand and cement grey (means painting if you want a differert colour)
(if you use white sand and white cement you can get white/of white colour)

K rend is more expensive to supply up to 3 times more than grey sand and cement.
k rend is available in a number of colours and if can get a colour suitable you dont have to paint the exterior.
K rend is on the market a while seems to be durable enough. You could ask the sales rep to show you buildings that have been done.
    regards donal

We paid around €4k for plastering inside and out on a 3500 sqft house labour only, plasters worked for a daily rate of €150 cash it was around 5.5 weeks, it was a local guy and I saw lots of places he had done, excellent quality. Materials were probably a grand or so on top of that.

We built 40 sq metres of stone on our front porch, cost was €30 per metre, work was top quality. This was two Latvian stonemasons who had done other work locally (there were 3 but we sent one off the site as the one day he was there the quality was poor) so that part was taken down and re-done properly. They worked 12 hour days and Saturday & Sundays. We were so impressed witht their work (and price) that we are now building a stone wall and piers which were not originally planned.

    HI Guys,

Just pricing plastering at the moment and will return with rates for a 2 storey 2600sq ft house. However I have already got the price for the stone mason. There is 270sq metres of stone when measured through windows. My local mason who has done the best work I looked at priced at €14000. most expensive was €23000. P
