Hi all. I'm going to start a detox tomorrow. I've been suffering with my sinuses for the last couple of years and I'm probably a bit bloated. I've been told that I probably have a yeast infection. I was going to cut out yeast, dairy, gluten and alcohol for a couple of weeks. Would these be the right things to eliminate? I tried to do this before and I really struggled, I only lasted a few days. Any advice or help on menus etc would be great.
    Thank you
    :p

I was having a read through the Anti Candidia Diet thread over the weekend having had to google "Candidia" :o which I discovered is a a fungal/yeast infection, and sinus issues and bloating were some things that folks mentioned as symptoms.

Now while I am in no way qualified to or attempting to provide a diagnosis to you here, I just thought that there was some good information on diets to control/help combat this in the above linked thread that you may find helpful.

Hey, the best bet would try to get some medical advice (good GP etc).

Tbh, cutting out all dairy, gluten, wheat etc will prob clear up your symptoms as chances are one of these could be triggering your sinuses as a lot of people are intolerant to some degree to one of the above you listed. I can't tell You for sure though as I am in no way qualified.

A past poster completely cleared her sinuses by cutting out most dairy. An elimination diet is useful. Id suggest go to a good GP, pass on the symptons to him/her. Might suggest a course of action. I had great success in an elimination diet - by cutting out one or two of the though offenders at a time for about 4-6 weeks and re introducing them back in, you can see if they cause a reaction. You have to make sure you keep up the cals though as it is easy to lost weight on. Things like Olive oil, coconut oil etc can help keep the cals up.

i've been reading the anti candidia diet post and i'm now on page 6. wow, there is loads of tips there. very confusing as to what to give up for me though. i had a clonic irrigation a couple of months ago and the nutritionist told me to cut out yeast and dairy but she didn't think i had an issue with sugar but to keep it limited. i got great relief for about 2 months, all over the christmas but my sinuses are back with a bang now as is my bloatedness. However, i didn't really stick with any proper diet. i think i might need to take a few days to properly plan out my diet so as not to fail.
i'll keep up with my research before i start. the nutristionist never mentioned cutting out carbs to me, or fruit.

The carbs and fruit advice applies only if you really have candida (there is a test for that - ask your GP)

For sinus problems, like metamorphosis said, gluten/wheat/dairy are major offenders. Gluten/wheat is also often the cause of bloatedness.

For me dairy messes up my sinuses and wheat/gluten messes up my digestion. If I don't eat these I'm in perfect form!

edit: if you do go to your GP as recommended, another test worth asking for is coeliac disease since it's common in Ireland and bloating is a symptom
